Newsom's $20 hr minimum Wage

It’s not much of one in CA. I landed in Burbank and watched a bag drop out of the chute every minute or so. In KC all bags were on the belt when I got there.
Been quite a while since I have been through Burbank. Last time, we had to walk out (in the open) to the plane and climb the stairway to get on the plane.

That’s actually my favorite part. Boarding or deplaning out the back door is awesome. I don’t mind the steps either.

For $20/hour, most places will have to cut back on their staff and that means slower service. Poor bastards will be working their asses off.
Well, you have to work hard to deserve 20 an hour. If you don’t then you aren’t worth it. That is the problem with these minimum wage hikes. They aren’t a one way street. The government may say you’re worth 20 an hour but in reality you have to live up to that.

Why? What makes them so special? You throw bags at a ******* airport for American Airlines. So what is the airline going to do? Raise ticket prices.

CA is trying to kill their own tourism.
They will be creating self imposed inflation. Maybe they really are this stupid. Sucks that I live there however.

It might not be possible to be worth $20/hr at a McDonald's. The profit margin just isn't there unless you can raise the price high enough to cover the higher costs of labor. I don't know that it's solely a question of how hard you work, you can bust your ass but if the revenues can't support that wage then the business can't pay it.

Yeah, kinda brings back memories of the 60's. The nicest part, there are literally no crowds, nothing close to being as hectic as LAX.

One place I went used to have a drive thru person, two cooks and 2-3 counter people. Now they just have the two cooks and the drive thru person.

These grim statistics should be a wake-up call for Newsom and other policymakers pushing for drastic wage hikes that will cause unintended consequences,” said Rebekah Paxton, if the Employment Policies Institute.

What unintended consequences? It doesn't take a genius with an MA from Harvard Business School to understand that if you pay unskilled entry-level workers an adult living wage commensurate with a degree,
  1. You will have to raise product prices greatly.
  2. You will have to let go of a lot of staff demanding that the remaining work harder.
  3. Then after sales fall off, you will have to raise prices yet higher while firing even more.
  4. About 30% of existing workers will then quit despite the raises, upset that they have so much more work and responsibility.
  5. A significant portion of your youth will drop out of college realizing why go $200,000 in dept for a college degree when you can make a good living at Wendy's making french fries.

After creating a $20 minimum wage, then his leftist government just keeps increasing the taxes, negating any increases.
$20 hr is pretty close to slave labor in California....your house is a tent in the street for a salary like that in California
