It was 25 feet high and was built in 1918. It was beyond antiquated, was falling apart, and would have cost orders of magnitude more to replace than it would to remove. It hadn't generated electricity since 2006.

And it was PacifiCorp, the local utility that owned it, that ultimately decided to tear it down. Not Newsom.
