Some on the left are advocating for it. It is currently more expensive, but fires can be worse. And, I was in the LA area and saw how they were digging up the street and drilling horizontally. New technologies could make it less expensive along with better insulation technologies. And, we would no longer need to worry about hurricanes and other weather related phenomena, or any fires started by overhead transmission failures.
