Eric Coomer, security director at the Colorado-based firm, in turn dropped Newsmax from a defamation lawsuit.

The conservative news network, in a statement published on its website and to be read on TV, said that while it aired the accusations against Coomer made by Trump's lawyers and supporters, it found no evidence that they were true.


Newsmax, which ran Dominion's denials of the accusations when they were made, also said it had found no evidence that Coomer had spoken to “Antifa” or any partisan organization.

“We would like to apologize for any harm that our reporting of the allegations against Dr. Coomer may have caused to Dr. Coomer and his family,” the network said. He said in his lawsuit that he had gone into hiding because of death threats.

Coomer's lawsuit also targets the Trump campaign, lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, columnist Michelle Malkin, the website Gateway Pundit, Colorado activist Joseph Oltmann and One America News Network. Those claims are continuing, a spokeswoman said.

Neither Newsmax nor a Coomer spokeswoman would comment on whether Coomer was paid anything to drop the company from his lawsuit.

Newsmax also told its audience, many of them Trump supporters that “many of the states whose results were contested by the Trump campaign after the November 2020 election have conducted extensive recounts and audits, and each of these states certified the results as legal and final.”

What the capitulators do isn't newsworthy...What the fighters do is.

Fighting a losing battle (even knowingly fighting a losing battle) is commendable under circumstance. For example, if a smaller man sees a larger man assaulting or brutalizing a child, and that smaller man attempts to come to their rescue at the risk of his own life, he's a hero even if he fails. But in the business world, if you're on the receiving end of a multimillion dollar lawsuit, and you're lawyers tell you that you're going to lose, and lose big, because you don't have the evidence to mount credible defense, you're a fool to go down fighting. And unless you actually OWN the company, you should expect to be terminated once you lose, if not before. Good luck in finding another job running a company after that fiasco.

Corporations settle all the time, even when they're in the right, because the long drawn out court battle is perceived to be more costly....It's all about the P&L statement.

Why is this so hard for conservatives to understand? You can't report unsubstantiated allegations as news.

Maybe you could understand it better on more personal terms. Let's say for the sake of example that you, or someone in your family, owned a business. What type of business it is is irrelevant. but for the sake of simplicity, let's just say that your business is building decks in the backs of homes for use by young families in the spring, summer, and fall. You adhere to all regulations, and you do a bang up job. And then, one day, a news report accuses your business of treating your wood with some kind of banned cancer-causing chemicals which is far less expensive that the chemicals that outside wood is normally treated with prior to installation. The next thing you know, the orders drop to zero, and your former customers start filling lawsuits seeking damages.

The truth of the matter is that the allegations are not only unfounded, they're untrue. What would you do?
