This is laughable, "Officers typically work 20 years or more to collect their full pension, which can equate to 50% of their final average salary." People remember NY is corrupt! Here's how the SCAM really works...their pension is based on their salary in their final year. So they funnel all the overtime to those set to retire, jacking up their (cough) salary double what is typical and retire with a pension that's as much or more than their true full time salary. Taxpayers are then on the hook to pay the jacked up pension for decades. Now you know why NY taxes are sky high.

Anyone would be an idiot to want to be a police officer in one of these dark blue cities. I'm sure there are a great deal more who would like to say, "Take this job and shove it" but are unable to.
