I don't believe that the weapon used was a "Welrod" It is much easier to purchase a fuel filter and modify it as a silencer.
In any case silencers using subsonic rounds do affect the semi-auto operation of most pistols.
The fact that we now know the face of the perp raises the odds of his capture as now more possible.

I have my doubts about this just to purchase ad B&T VP9 you have to have an enhanced background check and purchase a $200 tax stamp. That weapon costs a minimum of $2000 and is easily tracible. It would be easier to purchase a standard semiautomatic pistol and add a suppressor. At least then they would have to have the weapon to trace it.
An inexperienced gunsmith can manufacture an efficient silencer.
In fact Instagram was selling fue; filters as silencers last year.

Do not get caught up in this. A lot of these China filters are drilled through making them legitimate ready made suppressors, and quite possibly turning you into a felon just for ordering.​
