As my username indicates, I'm Conservative but have a bit of a Libertarian streak in me. I'm probably better described as a Constitutionalist.

I have been active on various political forums for about 25 years. So, I'm new to this forum but am the same old guy that is known by the same user name on other forums.

Hello NOG

So we'll have to see? There's really nothing in a 'label' that can be relied upon anymore in politics.

I'm a Canadian and I'll offer that I'm a leftist or socialist as is understood by Americans. But if my political preferences are viewed by a European for example, I would probably fit on the middle of the road.

Can you be a Conservative Libertarian and be a Trump supporter too?

I am what I am. Believe it or not.

Yes. A Conservative Libertarian can be a Trump supporter too.

Thanks for your explanation. Fwiw, I don't agree on the 'Conservative' aspect being consistent with Trump's agenda.

But I see the libertarian aspect as a natural lead-up to fascism. That may not necessarily be true for all interpretations of libertarianism. I can only see it as being a somewhat ethereal political ideology as it varies widely with different people's priorities.

But for an example: Libertarians value impossibilities that aren't consistent with 'democracy' and that is common to 'fascism'.

You would have to elaborate from your personal POV.

Can a libertarian debate their politics in a calm and rational way? I think they can if they're sincere.

I didn't know about any political forums online until about 2004, but welcome to the jungle !

As news boards go this one's pretty good.

I'll double that as I voted Trump 2nd time around (although a forever NEVER Hillary-she is the worst candidate in modern history) and tests as a conservative libertarian on multiple online tests, including the Nolan Chart using all extended pop-up questions for accuracy. Like you, I've also tested as a constitutionalist, am economically conservative (however, in reviewing decades of federal govt fiasco and where this actually applies I'm at a loss), with social issues I have a subjective take (reviews individual level of specifics to form an opinion), all laws are not sensible just because it's been made a law, however, I support a law-abiding society over chaos, anti-Big Brother that attempts authoritarian thought-speak, allergic to rigid thinkers who see everything in black and white, and a huge states' rights supporter.

I will look for your posts and look forward to engaging on a few issues:)

You seem familiar.

Aren't you that same fellow who went by the user name Liberal Hippie Dude 50 years ago?

There were several in 98 and going back that far I would have most likely debated him under his present name or some other name.

Maybe he will remember, "Is it time to send in the ground troops?"

That was me (42 years ago) when I voted for Jimmy Carter.

I sent then got off the wagon and voted for Ross Perot and Ralph Nader in the 90s then I fell back and voted for Obama in 2008.

Back then, I was on a site called 'e the people' under a different name.

I don't know of that site. How about CBC forums or Sympatico?

Then there were several US forums that I can't mention because some may still be up and running.

In early 99 the big issue was the Kosovo war and I found myself on the side against Clinton's war.
