Konnichiwa! My name is Akari and I'm a 46 year old nurse living in Florida. Was born in Japan but moved to the United States when I was 18. I'm married and have 2 children. I'm into politics, movies, ballet, musicals, reading, music and much more. This is my first forum so not sure what to expect. As far as politics go I am independent and vote for the politician not the party. I think both Republicans and Democrats have good ideas and my personal preferences indulge in a little bit of each. Thank you for reading my introduction thread and hope to meet all of you and have friendly civilized debates.
Welcome! It's the greatest message board EVER. I've been here for a long time. Someone said the 2000's but I could have sworn I was coming here when Clinton was president.

Are you a man or woman? I don't know if Akari is man or woman and nothing else you wrote tells what sex you are. Most would assume you are a woman based on what you wrote but that's because we are sexist pigs. LOL.

Reminds me of the riddle. Guy crashes car and kid rushed to the hospital. Doctor says "I can't operate on this patient he's my son. How is this possible? Most people can't figure it out. The answer is, "the doctor is the patients mother."

But most of us can't contemplate that the doctor is a woman. LOL

Welcome NDOZ :) USMB can be infuriating, frustrating, depressing, but also pretty okay at times. If you bring your sense of perspective, sense of humor, have fresh batteries in your bullsh*t detector and maybe wear a bullet proof vest, you can find some good people and good discussions here.

After Reported complaint, I took the liberty to delete the Israel issue posts from this "Introduction/Welcome in" thread.

I only come here for the assholes. I'm not looking for people I agree with when I come here. LOL. But I do appreciate the agrees, winners, informatives and LOVES that I get from the smart people on this site.

I guess I'm weird because I ignore most of the assholes. I don't enjoy angry or judgmental confrontation though I've developed a pretty tough hide over the years and it no longer bothers me. (I just chalk it up to mental midgets or whatever.) I look for the critical thinker, some logic, reason, evidence the other person enjoys exploring ideas, concepts, or at least actually thinks about what he/she is writing.

I had a wonderful conversation with a Trump/RFK Jr. supporter. We/HE realized we agree on a lot more than we disagree. We both believe government is corrupt but he thinks it's the libs in the Dem party and we both know the GOP is the globalist deep state rinos. We all agree on that. So I told him I'm sorry but I am brainwashed because I grew up in a great middle class home where 1 out of 3 homes was UAW and I saw my parents, 1 immigrant, the other only a high school grad, amass $800,000 in value.

My dad was a $5 hr cook got a job at Ford making $12. Union jobs. So I am brainwashed. I see what liberal government and unions do for a middle class.

I explained to him that without liberal government advocating for labor and unions, there is no middle class. Unregulated Free Market Capitalism doesn't create a middle class. Without government, it turns the middle class into the working poor. Small rich class, small merchant class and the masses known as the rabble. We've seen this before. It's why people fled Europe. It's why unions were born in the first place.

Trump is a con man no doubt. He has you guys believing he's a man of the people. THAT is weird.

The party for the rich, Republicans, sucker middle class voters over with social wedge issues like abortion or guns or racism. Once they have them on one social wedge issue they can convince them that Republican policies are not the party for the rich. It's weird.

I’m wearing my hazmat suit. :dev3:

I have two relatives who started with negative bank balances and amassed small fortunes (multi millionaires) with no help from any union and without any help from the government other than its protection of their unalienable rights. Pretty much all of us have made very good lives for ourselves without any help from unions or government. Between my husband and myself we have a huge family and the vast majority of us are solid middle class.

But I have watched a country that used to be pretty unified in basic decent values and common sense turn into a country in which neoMarxists--ALL Democrats or caucus with the Democrats--intend to turn us into a totalitarian Marxist state and they are doing it by trying to tear down all those decent values and common sense that made us a pretty great people.

The current Democrat Party is not the Democrats your parents grew up with or I grew up with. They are dangerous to America and if they succeed they will insist that nobody prospers but those they allow to prosper which won't be many. Far too many of their policies are counter productive to prosperity.

The Republican Party may have its corruption too, but it represents those people who still believe in those decent values and common sense, i.e. those who want a free, prosperous, strong, secure America with choices, options, opportunity and prosperity for all. And it has never opposed unions but it does believe a person should have a choice of whether to be in a union or not and no union should become more powerful than the people themselves.

To me it is a no brainer who real Americans who still value decent values and common sense will vote for in November.

I will respond to your first paragraph. Your comment exposes your ignorance. Your relatives only made what they made because of unions. Even if they weren't in unions. Unions brought all our wages up and without them, you've seen what has happened.

I'm sorry but your version of capitalism isn't even working for uneducated white blue collar workers

Everything you are saying tells me you've swallowed the GOP coolaid. I don't know if you are super successful financially or if you are just socially conservative.

Sorry if gays being free too bothers you. Or if Affirmative action, like price controls, is implemented to break up the good old boys network or the monopolies.

Yes, the Democrats are the same as when Clinton was president. You guys said the same thing about him. And Hillary. COmmunism! They'll destroy the economy. And then give Newt all the credit. How old are you? Are you successful?

Thanks for admitting the GOP is corrupt. That's a start.

Decent values? So you're a poor social conservative who the rich have duped with social wedge issues. God, gays, guns and or racism. Got it.

Free? Free to do what? Watch porn? Get an abortion? Freedom from Religion? Or are we just free to be religious? Are gays free to be non religious? Why not? Freedom goes both ways weirdo.

Yea, you're a social conservative. Most likely racist beliefs, but at the same time think there's a heaven a waiting for you. Idiots. It's easy for the GOP to dupe social conidiots.

I still prefer to err if I do on the side of common sense and the actual history and personal experience instead of leftist doctrine, dogma, propaganda that ignores how decent values and common sense are being destroyed so their agenda can control us all.

If you think unions are the only reason people succeed in this country I will just wish you a pleasant day.
