New Los Angeles DA announces end to cash bail, the death penalty and trying children as adults

So even as the police are neutered, now the Prosecutors will create situation where bad guys with no money and no incentive to behave are returned to the Street. He will also ignore the will of the people and end the DP on his own. Finally, now 17 year old gang bangers will get a free pass via the juvenile court system no matter how bad their crime.

Gascón defeated 8-year incumbent Jackie Lacey. As he assumed the head of the largest prosecutor's office in the nation Monday, he said his new agenda for Los Angeles -- which includes ending cash bail for certain minor offenses, the death penalty and the practice of charging juveniles as adults -- will differ from his predecessor's in order to better prevent crime, reduce recidivism, and restore victims.

He is also going to scour police records and try to set up some cops for falls via retroactive accusations of misbehavior.

Pretty sure the death penalty is a State level issue. Any crime which is a capital crime would likely be charged by the States Attorney's office, not a local DA...

He's the new DA for LA County. Like NY DA's go by county not City.

LA and NYC are competing with each other to see which one can be the stupidest. It's like two retards banging on a drum to see which one can be the loudest.

All Cali cops should leave the State. Veteran cops are needed everywhere and not in a state that throws them under the buss. See what Cali does with no cops at all.

But, again, anything tried as a capital crime probably isn't going to be tried by the District Attorney. Counties don't have death penalties. States do, and California does...

The real fun is when the people released keep committing crimes because they now have no reason to stop doing so. Plus the cops will now have to track down people who miss court dates, as we know the types that would be held on cash bail are the types that will skip out if there is no incentive for them to show up.

There will also be an increase in witness tampering because why not?

Sorry, but I don't think it works that way. All prosecutions like this come from the County, which has DA's who are State level employees. My Brother is a DA and he is a State employee, and all prosecutions in our county come out of his office, from public urination to capital murder. State DA's have authority mostly over white collar type crimes, not things like that.

It's all a moot point.

The leftist piece of shit governor they have in California halted executions in 2019...

Forgive me if this a dumb question, but what will this mean for those who are under age considering the fact that the number of their age won't change until later eventually of course?

God bless you always!!!

What it means is someone who murders someone at 17 gets treated as a juvenile, as has a much more restricted list of sentences they can get, typically they can only be held to 25 or so, as opposed to getting 30 to life if they were tried as an adult.

So they basically can get a free-bee murder to work on their street rep.

Newsmax reports that he was Soros funded. What else is new?
