Requirement for undocumented immigrants to register with the US government
Yes, there is a requirement for certain undocumented immigrants in the United States to register with the government.

Here's a breakdown of the key points:
  • Legal Basis: This requirement is based on Section 262 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). This law has been in place for decades but has recently seen renewed enforcement.
  • Who Needs to Register: Noncitizens aged 14 or older who have been in the U.S. for 30 days or longer and haven't already registered are required to register. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for registering children under 14, and children who were previously registered must re-register within 30 days of turning 14.
  • The Registration Process: Registration involves creating a USCIS online account and submitting Form G-325R, which requires biographic information and, for some, attending a biometrics appointment for fingerprinting.
  • Proof of Registration: Once registered, individuals aged 18 and older must carry proof of their registration at all times, such as the "Proof of Alien Registration" document issued by USCIS, or other documents like a Green Card or I-94.
  • Change of Address: Registered noncitizens must report any change of address to USCIS within 10 days of moving.
  • Consequences of Non-Compliance: Failure to register, carry proof of registration, or update an address can lead to criminal and civil penalties, including fines up to $5,000 and imprisonment. It could also lead to deportation proceedings.
  • Risks and Concerns: Immigrant advocates have raised concerns about this registration requirement, including the risk of it being used for mass deportations and for identifying and targeting individuals for detention and removal. There are also concerns about potential Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination issues, as the form requires individuals to divulge potentially incriminating information about their entry into the U.S.

I like this. This won't give them time to stall being deported. They'll be apprehended and poof, they're gone. This guy is a process needed to speed up ridding this country of criminal illegals who invaded out country.

This is a very good thing. However, Trump and company have so effectively closed the border there are very few 'new' illegals to deport. Unlawful crossing are at a historic low.

So what we really need is ability to mass deport those already here when they won't leave voluntarily.

I thought they were doing that.
