Well it does seem to go against basic "chain of custody" norms.

A lot of ill could be done by dem union employees starting from the carrier/PO you drop a ballot off at, to the sorting hub, at the PO it ends-up at, to the last carrier that drops it off at the destination.

All could shit-can ballots from certain red areas.

More the reason to make election day great again.

Ballot envelopes can be tracked and scanned for all receiving steps....just like priority mail. Many states have systems to track ones ballot where we can be certain the state received our absentee ballot, and be certain it was counted and not rejected....available to us on the internet to follow tracking.

All states should set that up.

Indeed, the PO could do that but that would be up to the USPS, not the states other than through a request.

As far as I know a state can't give the USPS marching orders unless it's to keep them off the roads in case of a declared emergency.....Even then I'm not too sure.

I've never really considered it so I won't mind standing corrected if that's not the case.

Mail in vote is a choice. Some find it easier to use and you can get it out of the way instead of waiting for election day. Its a choice , they can vote in person or use mail in votes. Pretty much the way it has always been.

We had 80 million people line up to vote on Election Day. There was NO spike in COVID cases the following week.

The mail-in scheme turned out to be unnecessary in 2020. And there is absolutely no excuse for it this time.
