A State Trooper asked me to do that once many years ago, and I told him, "You might as well just take me to jail because I really had no business driving."
I wasn't shot, I paid a fine, I attended a 2-hour class on substance abuse, I did 30 hIours of Community Service, and it didn't even go on my permanent driving record. Things tend to work out a little better when you understand you fucked up and made a very stupid choice; lesson learned and thank goodness no one was hurt.
