Yes, there was animosity and I'm sure hate even in some people. But that was a recent development, beginning in late WW1 once it became clear to local Arab leaders that a new state was to be carved out in Palestine and put under the subjection of a Zionist Jewish regime, all while mass immigration began of European Jews into Palestine.
People lived there already, Jews were a small minority and it was obvious there was the intent to rapidly change the demographics with the full support of the colonial powers primarily the British Empire.
Furthermore the British betrayed the Arabs with the Sykes-Pichot agreement, further sidelining the majority of what was to all intents and purposes the indigenous Arab population.
How anyone can look at that history and consider Arab anger as unwarranted, simply amazes me. If the same thing happened where you lived, you'd be pretty upset about it, look at how angry some are on this forum about Muslims settling into Michigan and Detroit - hypocrites all of them.
