NATO considering troops in Greenland

The hysteria of the left is incredible. Trump could tell someone he shot an eagle on the 7th hole

The liberal media would go ballistic and scream Trump admits he shot 7 eagles

Trump lies about his golf scores

Denmark said they have a right to self determinatioin.
as a sitting duck....
And the only aggression against Greenland, is, ironically, coming from Trump.
Russia has been all over the artic for resources
They want to bankrupt the West via proxy war
which is why resources were a bargaining chip....
Greenland needs to be protected,
i'll wager they know this....
If you actually look at NATO, the US uses NATO more than NATO uses the US.
really?, seems it's the first time NATO's been in our back yard .....

Question.

Is Trump Derangement Syndrome covered under your Obamacare policy?

It seems so.many unfortunate people have allowed this mental illness to advance to Stage 5.

Damn a mind is a terrible thing to waste on a Democrat or Trump hater

I don't support a US invasion of Greenland, but the above statement is 100% BS. Either could take Greenland in 2 days.

Their leaders aren't stupid enough to do it.

from who?

Trump is the only one threatening them
Do you think China or Russia are going to signal when they attack? Chinas navy expansion alone suggests they have serious external interest in conquest, you dont build the navy equipment and vehicles they have for defensive purposes.

There are no secrets anymore

Neither would dare attack

They might actually understand what Greenland really is too...

"protecting the strategically important territory from Russian and Chinese aggression."

trump wouldn't be protecting the US from anything. Neither China or Russia have the capability to invade Greenland. Likewise if China invaded Taiwan there's nothing the US could do about it.
AI Overview

Greenland is strategically important due to its prime Arctic location for military surveillance (home to Pituffik Space Base), its control over crucial North Atlantic shipping lanes (GIUK Gap), vast untapped mineral wealth (rare earths, oil, gas), and its role in emerging Arctic trade routes as ice melts, making it a focal point for U.S., Chinese, and Russian geopolitical competition

Trump is turning all the US's allies against the US.

Hilarious. NATO wants to protect Greenland from the country that provides about 2/3 of their military budget. You can’t make this up.

Yes that's true. However even if Russia wasn't at war it doesn't have the ability to put boots on the ground and sustain them. They also wouldn't have any air support. Their invasion forces would have to cross the Atlantic Ocean and I'm sure the United States Navy would get in the way.

I'm not talking about taking it. I'm talking about getting their military forces there. It's an impossibility for China because of the distance. They either have to cross North America or Asia and Europe. For Russia, they don't have the naval assets to launch an invasion. In either case they would not have air support. Even our pathetic Canadian air force could bomb them out of existence. Our air force is pathetic because of politicians. Our pilots are more than capable.

He's also massively contradictory on just about everything.

In his first term, some kids got shot up at school. Trump said he'd deal with it. So the NRA was sent in, and the next day he was totally opposed to stopping kids being killed in schools.

This term, it's like wildfire.

He's against foreign intervention because it costs too much and wants the Peace Prize (from Costco or something), but wants to invade Greenland, Venezuela, Canada, Mexico and any other country with an initial letter that starts with a letter of the alphabet. Except of course Saudi Arabia.

He's pro-capitalism, and yet told the credit card companies how much they can charge. All the while letting huge corporations pay whatever tax they like.

He's pro-Ukraine this week, pro-Russia next week, anti-Russia the week after with hoooj sanctions, and then anti-Ukraine the week after.

What does this guy stand for, other than himself? NOTHING.

A.I. Say's:
The United States' role in the defense of Greenland is based on a 1951 defense agreement with Denmark and is considered strategically logical by both U.S. and Danish security experts due to Greenland's critical location for North Atlantic and North American security. The current arrangement, which involves close cooperation, is widely seen as sufficient and effective, making unilateral acquisition or invasion unnecessary.

Key Reasons for the U.S. Defense Role
  • Strategic Location: Greenland is crucial for controlling the Greenland-Iceland-United Kingdom (GIUK) Gap, a key maritime chokepoint for monitoring Russian naval movements into the Atlantic.
  • Early Warning Systems: The U.S. operates the Pituffik Space Base (formerly Thule Air Base), a vital installation for ballistic missile early warning, missile defense, and space surveillance operations for the U.S. and NATO.
  • NATO Alliance: Both the U.S. and Denmark are NATO members. The 1951 agreement is an implementation of the North Atlantic Treaty, solidifying the shared responsibility for defense.
  • Arctic Security: With increasing interest from Russia and China in the Arctic, the U.S. presence helps ensure stability and counter potential security threats in the region.
The Current Arrangement
Under the 1951 agreement, the U.S. has the right to "construct, install, maintain, and operate" military facilities in Greenland in cooperation with Danish and Greenlandic authorities. This existing framework grants the U.S. broad access to meet its security objectives without needing sovereignty over the island. Experts argue that any necessary expansion of the U.S. military presence can be achieved through existing diplomatic channels and mutual consent.
In summary, the established defense cooperation, rooted in decades-old treaties and mutual security interests, is a logical and functional arrangement that serves the security needs of all parties involved.
In 2026, the logic behind U.S. protection of Greenland is based on established international law, historical precedent, and modern strategic necessity. This relationship is formalized through the 1951 Defense of Greenland Treaty, which grants the U.S. the right to operate military installations on the island for the collective defense of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
1. Legal and Institutional Framework
The U.S. "protection" is a treaty-bound obligation rather than a unilateral claim:
  • The 1951 Agreement: Signed between the U.S. and Denmark, this treaty remains the legal foundation for U.S. military presence. It allows the U.S. to "construct, install, maintain, and operate" bases to defend both Greenland and the NATO region.
  • Sovereignty and Consent: Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. Current 2026 updates confirm that any significant change to the U.S. military footprint requires consultation with both Danish and Greenlandic authorities under the 2004 Igaliku Agreement.
  • NATO Article 5: As part of Denmark, Greenland falls under NATO's mutual defense clause, making its protection a shared "logical" priority for the entire alliance.
2. Strategic and Geopolitical Logic (2026)
Experts and officials cite several reasons why U.S. protection is logically essential to contemporary security:
  • Missile Defense and Early Warning: The
    Pituffik Space Base
(formerly Thule Air Base) is a critical node for U.S. homeland defense, housing radars that track long-range ballistic missiles over the North Pole.
  • The GIUK Gap: Greenland sits at one end of the Greenland-Iceland-UK Gap, a naval chokepoint through which Russian and Chinese vessels must pass to enter the Atlantic. Protecting this area is vital for monitoring submarine movements.
  • Arctic Competition: With climate change opening new shipping routes like the "Polar Silk Road," the U.S. views Greenland as a buffer against Russian military expansion and Chinese "near-Arctic" ambitions.
  • Resource Security: Greenland contains massive deposits of rare earth minerals and graphite, which are essential for defense technologies and the transition to renewable energy. Protecting the island ensures these resources do not fall under adversarial control.
Commentary:
Based upon the above, the security of Greenland is paramount if both Russia and China are showing interest in a take over.
Since the U.S. has been the protector of Greenland actually prior to 1951
So simply, Frigidweirdo is blowing smoke.

As everyone has learned over the past year, Trump is a buffoon. He's a toddler in a man's body. He protects pedos. He does the bidding of the Israeli government. And most of all ... he's a conman. I had a list in my mind of the worst Presidents of all time. Obama, Biden, FDR, the Bush boys, and Carter were on my list. Trump has now joined them.
If you are comparing Obama, Biden, FDR, Carter, and the first Bush to Trump, you are FOS.
