Another Deputy Operations Officer for the National Guard in Minnesota, did the same. His whole address was done on his knee. Truly strong leaders aren't threatened by showing respect. He spoke to the protesters as human beings and they listened. And applauded him.

The Kentucky National Guard in Louisville opened fire after being fired upon along with the police. They both were returning fire, with the police officer striking and killing the rioter.

I was in the Nasty Guard during Reagan and no ammo was ever issued.

He should be put up against a wall and shot. These are no different than Nazis, the Japanese. The looters and terrorists are the same as Isis and the Taliban. How dare he as American military show fealty to the enemy.

Same thing with the guard after Hurricane Andrew in 92,,, All was good until a reporter Rick Sanchez let the cat out of the bag and the Guardsmen started to get mugged for their weapons, after that ammo was issued

Seems to me the guardsman was trying a lot harder than that young woman to be reasonable and conciliatory. He listened and she talked (and talked and talked). He offered his hand and she wouldn't take it. He offered to march with them within the area he was tasked with protecting and she rejected him. She wasn't even accepting him taking a knee until the rest of the protesters started cheering for the gesture.

Reaching out, respect, and real dialog has to go both ways. That rather verbose young woman seemed uninterested in any of that, to me. The guardsman showed that he was willing to put personal pride aside for the sake of peace in our country. Is everyone?
