No one mentioned a tax free society. No culture should be forced into subsidizing a counterculture.
Much of our taxes are not used on schools, roads, public services or even counterculture, whatever that means. What we're actually subsidizing through income taxation is the principal plus the interest on Treasury bonds that were purchased by the Federal Reserve with a check from an account that has nothing in it from banks who had previously bought them from the Treasury at an auction to buy our national debt (Treasury bonds). This process repeats over and over and over and over again perpetually. That process begins in the first place because the politicians aren't running on the idea of spending less. They instead say ''hey, vote for me because I'll make sure that the government provides you with more free stuff than my opponent say's he will.' Both sides run on it. Democrats and Republicans both, depending on their personal variety of theoretically free stuff. And, of course, that deficit spending turns into those Treasury bonds which consequently turn into our national debt. It keeps going up and up and up and up while our dollar and spending power tanks in a constant, downward, spiral as a consequence. In fact, that's the most dangerous tax. The inflation tax. It's hidden. And it's regressive. It's far more destructive than the income tax. What's worse is that the GOP just adopted chained CPI into their tax bill. Which means that by adopting chained CPI into it, they can now lie about and misrepresent that inflation tax by understating inflation’s effects on our standard of living. It does this by assuming inflation has not reduced Americans' standard of living. It's the best tax ever for politicians because they don't actually have to vote on it. It's a hidden tax which is just a consequence of their fuckery.
Both parties are the cause because both adhere to the Kenesian monetary policy instead of free market capitalism as the founders intended. And to quote John Maynard Keynes, himself,
''By this means government may secretly and unobserved, confiscate the wealth of the people, and not one man in a million will detect the theft."
Presented correctly, however, anyone can understand the system regardless of the complexity of it. The solution to all of that revolving fraudulent theft and debt is to repeal the 16th Amendment. Congress lacked the constitutional authority to vote on it in the first place.
In 1912 and prior Americans had a 0% income tax and a store of value. But then came 1913. Which gave us the 16th Amendment, the Federal Reserve, and its collection wing, the IRS. It's no coincidence that our store of value is gone and we're 21 trillion in debt with a 4 cent dollar and very little spending power. We're doomed until we relsolve it. In fact, Marx would love our post 1913 monetary policy. It's precisely what he strived to accomplish. And it's why the modern socialists are so interested in it. Unfortunately, the statists on the right think they're defending capitalism because muh war except what they're actually defending is socialism under the illusion of capitalism. It's Keynesianism. And then the actual, real, socialists on the left egg the morons on by constantly baiting them into argung about it in order to keep the converstation going in their favor because they know the statists on the right have no idea they're actually defending socialism in the name of capitalism. It's gosh darned nuts because nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. At least not until 40 years later when everybody is sitting around the kitchen table trying to figure out how the heck they got bent over by the system when they were 20.
And, of course, the politicians who had started the whole mess in the first place when they said ''hey, vote for me because I'll make sure that the government provides you with more free stuff than my opponent say's he will' now turn around and say 'hey, thanks for that' and then they commence to kicking that can same can down the road for the next generation to worry about so the entire monetary policy doesn't tank on their watches. They keep repeating that same processover andover and over again.
