I felt exactly the opposite about early education. I wanted our son to be well educated and I wanted him to love education from a very early age. I have no doubt that his love of education is the reason he is now a successful scientist. He's a virus researcher at a very famous research institute.

As a parent, I would think you would want your child to be successful in life instead of struggling to be accepted in a nursing program.

(BTW, a little friendly advice ... look into Physical Therapy or even Occupational Therapy. The pay is much better and you would work regular hours. Either are much better fields for women. If you can't qualify, look at becoming a PT or OT assistant. Both offer better pay and better hours than nursing and you could possibly get into a program from that point.)

First, no historian would 'testify' that someone shouldn't have to learn a foreign language, especially based on the silly nonsense you post in the OP.
Second, registered nurses get a bachelor or science degree, for which a foreign language is not required. Only bachelor of arts degrees require 2 years of a foreign language.
Third, in order to avoid the standard requirements of any college or university degree, you would have to take the matter to court, and pay for it yourself. It's unlikely in the extreme you have the funds to do that.

I know. It's just that some would prefer not to take the classes and it should be optional. If you don't continue to speak the other languages after you get through the course, it's easy to forget what you learned after a few years. I know so many who try to speak German or Spanish years after they graduate college and they are so rusty they slaughter it. In many cases, it's a waste of time and I think it's due to the lack of interest from the start. People squeak by and pass the class for credit, then forget about it. Makes more sense to take classes that interest you and pertain to your career field. I find it interesting to learn languages, but not everyone does. It makes sense if you travel a lot or deal with people from all over the world. For some, it's just a pain to get through classes and they don't benefit from it.

Why would anyone have to go to court in order to get into college? Is it because she doesn't have the grades to qualify and wants to force the college to let her in? Is that even possible?

If we want our children to be employable and competetive we should teach foreign languages from the start right alongside English. More 'overhead' in your natuve language you have, the harder it is to pick up additional languages. Whereas if you do it from birth it's as easy as picking up the native lingo.

US schoolkids should get Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic right alongside English. These 4 languages constitute the majority of the planet's population.

Foreign kids get multiple languages. If US kids don't why would anyone hire them over someone who can communicate to many times more?
