My opinion, if Trump cuts taxes for everyone but adds a percent or two to the wealthiest, it won't hurt America and it would be popular

The way I see this is that a 1% increase to the highest earners would destroy the narrative against him that "Trump is for the richest", while at the same time he cuts taxes for everyone else. Also, he can defend his tariffs as being at least a partial replacement of lower taxes.

Just my opinion. I always prefer lower taxes for all but politically it would help. Considering he cut taxes for corporations and is cutting regulations deeply, this would work and the wealthiest can't complain. Capital flight risk occurs anyways, another 1% isn't going to change this.

I recall a billionaire in Germany saying that he supported higher taxes for him and his friends. His reasoning? "I'd rather be wealthy in a rich country than wealthy in a poor country".

That is a profound statement and the logic resonated with me

That is a stupid idea not well thought out. Why, because no matter what Trump does the narrative will be the same.

The problem is not what Trump does, the problem is who Trump has to fight.

Economic growth in America is largely the result of companies investing profits in growth and expansion rather than giving them away to the government.

Reinvested business profits promote employment, production, work skills, high standard of living.

The same profits given to government promote indolence, welfare, bureaucracies, government power and overreach.

I love everything Trump is doing. The Democrats have no vision and have lost faith with most Americans.

A tax cut fer the wealthy is about forty years old. It ain't nothing new, Bub..During Reagan, we had to cut back on all activities of the government but one, the military. This shit ain't nothing new.

Trump needs to cut taxes to make up for his tariffs
I can’t see him raising taxes on millionaires.

Democrats lost because of high inflation.
No matter what Trump cuts in taxes, people will still be pissed

This would negatively impact the donor class and is thus a complete nonstarter.

I actually applaud Trump for publicly bringing it up though. It shows where the real power is.

I would extend the Trump tax cuts that expire this year for most people but not the wealthy. And I would support spending cuts that actually spend less money than before or at least not higher. Hold the line MFers and let revenue catch up with and pass expenditures.

I know plenty of the peasants who got that 23% tax cut, reduction of tax brackets with indexing, IRA improvements and more who were happy as hell. A decade of stagflation with all workers moving up in the then many tax brackets made people suffer. If we kept things as they were anyone/a couple with 50 thousand dollars a year give or take a few grand in wages would be in the 50% tax bracket. Many people started experiencing activities again. Prog lies. You guys are destroying the West. and the only good thing is that you will suffer with everyone else and your sorry asses may take lot of the venom when it comes.

The trouble with the left is just flat out jealousy. They refuse to see that over the decades and centuries that the poor's standard of living has always gone up. It has never gone down. It doesn't matter a rat's ass if the rich get richer and richer because the poor get richer and richer too. They also mistakenly believe that the world's wealth is a finite piece of pie that never changes. When the pie gets bigger it gets bigger for everyone. It doesn't really matter if the rate of wealth inequality goes up faster for the rich because if the poorer are getting richer, the poor are getting richer. It doesn't matter if Elon Musk gets richer faster than you.

Trying to placate the Left is a fool's errand. The Fake News should be exposed at every opportunity.

You're in a Nation Whose Economy Is Modeled on Urination

Saying that the rich create national wealth is like saying that vampires create blood. The work force creates the entire value of the investment, and all they get is trickledown. Like the boasting from the government, its twin parasite, the Plutes throw money at an ongoing activity and claim that they created it. Just like many sports fans, pathetic losers desperately need to support an imaginary higher power in order to make them think they are winners

The "employees" don't work at a job until they are hired by the owners, who created the business. Without the business, there are no workers.

That German man is a fool and America’s wealthy most definitely would not agree with him. All raising taxes on the wealthy would do is force them to rearrange how they (legally) skirt the rules or (if the loopholes were filled) incentivize the relocation of those individuals, their companies, and their money elsewhere.

Define "wealthy" because I was sick and tired of assholes telling me I wasn't paying my 'fair' share and the constant demonization of people who worked their ass off and made sacrifices to become successful. MF'ers I'm not the piggy bank for the rest of the goddamn lazy fat ass losers to MOOCH off.

On this same topic, if government seized every goddamn dollar of the 'rich' annual income it wouldn't even cover the deficit. So much for the PROPAGANDA of the problem being the 'rich' don't pay their fair share.
