My brother is sitting in an emergency room in Edmonton with a twelve hour wait they just gave him after being rushed to the hospital by ambulance ...

Speaking personally at being almost 70 years old, I can honestly say that the health insurance I have had in all of my years has ALWAYS been better than the Canadian system and Europe's systems.

Then you've been lucky.

My wonderful experience with Cigna in 2006-8 has soured me on private insurance.

Life-Expectancy_Highest_02-web.jpg

You’d figure tht would translate into shorter life spans (if it were true); not longer ones (which is true). I’m sure there will be a hilarious explanation for why we don’t live as long as these other nations with their “socialized medicine”. Can’t wait to hear what it is.
Well, you are assuming that their life spans are all due to universal healthcare. I would say that there is much more involved with the longevity of the list above than healthcare. Most of those countries also have had top down government control over their everyday food habits as well as much other lifestyles as well. The stress level is much higher in the U.S. But, so is the poor food ingredients and much other requirements like many of the vaccines too. I saw a study recently that says there is a link between taking the measils and mump vaccines with later in life strokes and heart attacks. Yet, a kid can't get into a school without having those vaccines and others too. Now, you'll have to do some more studying on this and other issues as well. It's actually quite interesting to watch the Democrats attack RFK Jr. over the things he's trying to accomplish and how that would affect universal healthcare as well.

Except the SOcialized Medicine countries have longer life expectancies, lower infant mortality rates, lower obesity rates.

They beat us on every health metric, and the best your side can come up with is an anecdote about someone who waited for an appendectomy.
And, why do you think those countries have lower infant mortality rates even though it's mandatory in America to have vaccines just to get into school? And, why does America have more obesity rates which is most likely the reason for the lower life expectancies? Yet, the universal healthcare crowd Democrat are all against what RFK Jr. is attempting to do with drugs, food, vaccines and so on. Why? See, unlike some of the other countries listed with longer life expectancies, the U.S. Democrats want it to be able to control everything to complete their communist takeover schemes.

It doesn't seem to be hurting their life expectancy, now does it? I guess that arugment went out the window quickly.

The stress level is much higher in the US? Really?

You guys will say any dumb thing that pops into your head.

Yes, the stress level is much less in those smaller countries. Their ways of life are much different. Universal healthcare has nothing to do with the life expectancy. It hurts it more than helps it. Now, our health industry has serious issues in which universal healthcare will just make things worse, not better. What you need to do is to go back to school and just learn the difference between healthcare and health insurance.

In the US wait times have surged, but we are still talking like days, not weeks.

  • Obstetrics/Gynecology - 42 days, up 33% since 2022 and up 79% since 2004.
  • Gastroenterology - 40 days (gastroenterology was added to the survey in 2025).
  • Dermatology - 36.5 days, up 6% since 2022 and up 50% since 2004.
  • Cardiology - 33 days, up 23% from 2022 and up 74% since 2004.
  • Family Medicine - 23.5 days, up 14% since 2022 and up 16% since 2009, the first year family medicine was included in the survey.
  • Orthopedic Surgery - 12 days, down 29% since 2022 and down 29% since 2004.
And? you’re making my point!

Yes, the stress level is much less in those smaller countries.
The stress level in Japan is sky high.
Their ways of life are much different. Universal healthcare has nothing to do with the life expectancy.
Stats say otherwise.
It hurts it more than helps it.
Again, stats are not your friend....neither is anyone else.

You do realize "infants" aren't going to school, right?

And, why does America have more obesity rates which is most likely the reason for the lower life expectancies?

Because they don't get regular health care. Duh. We also have more processed foods.

Yet, the universal healthcare crowd Democrat are all against what RFK Jr. is attempting to do with drugs, food, vaccines and so on. Why?

because most of us have the good sense to not take health advice from ex-heroin addicts.

See, unlike some of the other countries listed with longer life expectancies, the U.S. Democrats want it to be able to control everything to complete their communist takeover schemes.

Right, there's a commie hiding under your bed right now.

You’re funny.
Stats are not your friend when you have everything involved with making blanket statements on why universal healthcare is the only reason for long life spans. That takes a real stupid person to make that connection the only connection.

“Yes, the stress level is much less in those smaller countries.”

What do you base that on?

“t hurts it more than helps it. Now, our health industry has serious issues in which universal healthcare will just make things worse, not better.

What do you base that on?

Health insurance is the bank of the medical industrial complex. It passes on the increasing costs of each of its constituents (hospital chains, formularies, reviewers, coders, device makers, physicians (a who are increasingly employees) right on to you and your employer. You pay for a lot of overhead in the US that doesn’t exist in other countries.

Yet, the taxation is greater in many of those socialist countries. So, I'd say the overhead may just be the government themselves. Follow the money.

15th post
And here we have the Canadian immigration council, whatever it is, advertising to foreigners about free healthcare.

Canada is so screwed. Let us not follow them down this path.

I spent 12 hours in Ronald Reagan ER at UCLA a few days ago

On their medical care?

Let me ask another way. Why should I believe you when I have the information direct from the source as you only claim to have heard?
I don't care. You can do your own research. I suggest you do so.
