Muslim leader called for a Jewish place of worship to be established on the Temple Mount.

Which verses in the Koran actually refer to Jerusalem then, making it an Islamic holy place ?
Quran 17:1 "God is the Exalted One who took His servant one night for a visit from the Sacred Mosque (in Mecca) to the Aqsa Mosque (in Jerusalem). God has blessed the surroundings of the Aqsa Mosque. He took His servant on this visit to show him (miraculous) evidence of His (existence). It is He who is All-hearing and All-aware."

.

The mosque was created and named after the fact. There was not mosque in Jerusalem before their conquest.
There was a jewish temple and a christian church. There had even been a roman temple to Jupiter after the destruction by them of the jewish temple.
al-aqsa mosque was even built after the dome, which was for pilgrims to visit the site of the temple. The mosque was build later for the muslims off to the side of the mount. The mosque was not a central building for muslims.
Mohmmed faced Jerusalem to pray for only 13 months then he changed it to Mecca, leaving Jerusalem for the jews and christians.
As for the first temple/mosque......
Sura 3:96 tells us: Undoubtedly the first House for the worship of Allah ever built for mankind is the one at Bakka
That is in Lebanon, not Jerusalem

Actually, Bakka is the ancient name of Mecca. ......
Now in both the Bible and Torah as well as the Tanakh(Hebrew Bible), there is mention of the Valley of Baca where Almighty God resides on this Earth...

The Judeo-Christian traditions held this spot to be Bekaa Valley [or Al Biqa in Levantine/Galbi Arabic dialect], the fertile valley in Lebanon and Syria, located about 30 km (about 19 mi) east of Beirut...

Like the Jew corn curls are the in thing, also some of the Jews have the grossest beards to behold, very in vogue, ugh.
Ashkenazi Jews you mean? Those with the highest avg IQ in the world?

Highest IQ's in the world, well for one I'd like some back up reading to support that theory , and you know what they say about high IQ's , they lack common sense. I don't mind beards or mustaches, as long as they are neat and trimmed, otherwise just shows laziness in grooming.

The last thing Penelope obviously cares about is intelligence, lol.

Intelligent in what , the torah, or life? I prefer life. I rather doubt Jews of any sort have higher IQ's than any other nationality, and a book only smart person can be a bore, don't you think?

The footnotes in my copy of the King James Bible says that the valley of Bakka is located in Saudi Arabia. .....

by either use of the name, it is NOT referring to Jerusalem
Who said that it was referring to Jerusalem?
The first place of worship ever built is the Kabba in Mecca. .....
Mecca does not even make the oldest ten
Did you happen to notice that I was referring to the Kabba not Mecca? ......

it dates from around the 4th or 3rd Century BCE. Hardly the first or oldest anything.

Ancient egyptian text

How don't you know your own archeological history? How don't you know what others in the region say about mecca. We know the quran is not the way the revelations were given and the text was edited over the course of 150+ years. Oldest fragment found in Yemen prove what is know as the quran today is not "god given" but by the hand of many over a long period.
among the qurans found are edit marks in the margins as they were changed and rewritten.
Maybe you should be more aware of what is proven and less on the mythology.
Don't you ever question what you are taught in your mosque?
