They were never a serious party...There's alot I like about Libertarians, however, they never polled the people to find out what they wanted, instead they went off the deep end with things like total drug legalization, not knowing geo politics, and just nominating horrible candidates...

If they were a serious party they'd build from the bottom up...ie; local seats, Congress, Mayors, Governors, THEN swing for the fences.

The were a serious party in the aforementioned time frame....They were making inroads in state and local elections...Then the national party went to shit and they had no central guidance.

They need to return to the recipe that Harry Browne and company were working from '96-'04....Keep running national candidates while grooming them at the state and local levels.

The LP is certainly ripe for the picking, though a self-serving wind sock like Elmo would certainly spell its total doom as a party of libertarian principles.

The 3rd party has been around for decades usually in a socialist venue like the Greens or outright communist like CUSA. It has occurred to me OB and I wonder if anyone else has thought of this and now you kind of touched upon it---

Has it ever occurred to anyone that a factor in Musk joining Trump in January was the hope of playing Trump a little for his own advantage? And Musk is just sour grapes now because he found out Trump was unplayable and didn't like being played, and maybe even played Musk a little in return?

A third party is a bad idea, especially at this time; it splits the vote up so many ways that it can end up that the bad guy/loser might win. A far better solution is to just let Trump keep MAGA-fying the GOP more and more little by little pushing the old GOP out.

The new MAGA-GOP is just killing the democrap party.
