You don't realize how dry this air is. I heard them say in the area of the fires the humidity is between 8 and 14%.

I delivered to Cali a month ago, in fact to LA. I heard the NOAA weather radio in my truck report the humidity was 12%. You can't imagine 12% humidity unless you live in it. It literally sucks the life of moisture out of you. I poured some old dog-bowl water out in the parking lot to refresh my dogs water supply and by the time I refilled her bowl, put it back where it goes, turned to look outside, the parking lot was totally dry where I threw the water out. Any water exposed to air evaporates in seconds.

The humidity in Pacific Palisades and Malibu is considerably higher than the rest of LA. The average depending on the month is 62 to 64 percent.
