MotoAmerica is at the Circuit of the Americas this week, and it's hot in Texas. Lap times are real fast for the heavily modded one liter production superbikes. Amazing how those bikes are nearing motoGP track record times and close to the all-time fastest MotoAmerica series time in 100 degree heat.
Are the bikes as fast as the cars at COTA? We are witnessing faster or the same as the NASCAR Cup car record but way off from an Indy or F1 record lap. Interestingly though, an Aprilia MotoGP bike ridden by Maverick Vinales has the fastest MPH record @7 mph more than an F1 car.

"Two-time and defending MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Jake Gagne was quickest during testing Monday at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), near Austin, Texas. Riding his Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha YZF-R1 in extremely hot conditions, Gagne lapped the 3.4-mile, 20-turn course in 2:10.358"

"The MotoAmerica lap record at COTA is 2:09.46 set by Toni Elias during the 2016 race in Austin. He was riding for the Yoshimura Suzuki factory team in the Superbike class"

"The COTA fastest lap time ever for a MotoAmerica Superbike is 2:08.18 set by Roger Hayden during qualifying in 2017"

"The MotoGP COTA lap record is 2:03.126 set by Alex Rins during the 2023 Grand Prix of the Americas riding for the LCR Honda Castrol team."

"The COTA fastest lap time ever recorded on a MotoGP bike is 2:01.892, set during qualifying by Francesco Bagnaia in 2023. This is the first and only sub-2:02 lap of COTA on a MotoGP bike."
