On of the interesting comments on the article:
"Nobody is denying that it is not "normal" to have gender dysphoria just like nobody would deny that it is not "normal" to be 6'8" or have an IQ of over 130.
Nobody wants this CONDITION to be treated as "normal", because statistically, it clearly is very abnormal. . What reasonable people want is for the PEOPLE with this condition to be accepted fully and without reservation and to be treated with compassion. .
Just like telling someone with depression, "suck it up" is useless and prone to make things worse, telling someone with gender dysphoria, "I'm not going to accept you acting like a member of the opposite sex" is useless and prone to increasing the comorbidity.
You seem to not understand what the word "normal" means. What people want is compassion for these individuals, just like we have compassion for individuals with other abnormal conditions, such as exceptionally high or low intelligence."
