That's the way Maddow reported it. She was blindsided and upstaged by Russia when they obliged the Irish fishermen.

It's almost as if Putin set a trap for Maddow, but he was likely thinking in terms of playing up to Ireland by being agreeable.

Glad you brought it up. I was almost going to do it but it's sort of stale by now.

Will the fishermen follow Russia to their new location and completely blow the cover?

Yes stabilizing, because it became mutually agreeable to both sides. The fishermen's dishonest moteves were exposed and the confrontation was defused.

Pretty stuppid of them to announce their intentions when they should have just shown up.

Maybe they still will at Russia's new location! But they won't be able to spin it to look like they just want to go fishing.

That's what happens when countries are allowed to extend their territorial waters willy-nilly.

150 miles? Russia or any other country's navy should be able to conduct surface exercises that far off-shore.

Meh, I just figure Russia thought the juice was not worth the squeeze to get into a fuss with a bunch of drunk Irishmen.

Nobody blinked yet but the Irish are a funny bunch. Ireland remained neutral in WW2 and Nazi ships cruised within Irish waters during the war and Nazi's parachuted to Ireland. Does anybody really think the Irish feel so strongly about Russian operations that the drunken fishermen from Ireland are willing to risk their lives to disrupt some freaking war games?
