Morrissey attacks politicians and the Queen over Manchester terrorism response

The Manchester-born singer Morrissey has hit out at politicians for their reaction to the bombing in his hometown that has killed 22 people and hospitalised 59 more.

In his statement, the former Smiths frontman claimed that politicians are safe from attacks, while the rest of the country is left vulnerable...

..Morrissey cited government immigration policy among his complaints saying the prime minister would never change her immigration policy in the light of the attacks...

..Morrissey also appeared to suggest that politicians were afraid to refer to Abedi as an Islamist extremist...

...“In modern Britain everyone seems petrified to officially say what we all say in private,” the singer wrote on his Facebook page. “Politicians tell us they are unafraid, but they are never the victims. How easy to be unafraid when one is protected from the line of fire. The people have no such protections.

“Manchester mayor Andy Burnham says the attack is the work of an ‘extremist’. An extreme what? An extreme rabbit?”

Criticising the prime minister, he claimed that “her own life is lived in a bullet-proof bubble, and she evidently does not need to identify any young people today in Manchester morgues”.

The musician added: “Also, ‘will not break us’ means that the tragedy will not break her, or her policies on immigration. The young people of Manchester are already broken - thanks all the same, Theresa.”

Morrissey also criticised the London mayor, Sadiq Khan, who he said had failed to condemn the Islamic State group after it claimed responsibility for the attack. A link to the terrorist organisation has not been confirmed by the security services, who are still working to identify whether or not Abedi worked alone or as part of a cell..

...Also in line for criticism from Morrissey was the Queen, who he said had received “absurd praise for her ‘strong words’ against the attack, yet she does not cancel today’s garden party at Buckingham Palace – for which no criticism is allowed in the Britain of free press”....

The same can be said of liberals here in America.

So how long should events be cancelled that would make folks like you and Morrissey happy?

I supposed we'll all just have to change our Facebook profiles, light up some buildings and spread some lame hashtags calling for unity, or some such bullshit. Don't worry, though, as there will be another attack along in the next week or so. Stay tolerant, Europe!

Nope, that's the retarded, liberal way to deal with islamic terrorism. The real way to deal with it is to vote the liberal bums out of office and elect people like Donald Trump aka real leaders.

what does one bag of crap have to do with the other? are you actually going to sit there and say "hey, this is just a part of life now" and shrug it off as if nothing can be done?

i swear to god some people would rather die in some fit of raged up dumbass than give trump any leeway at all just to move. yes trump is a jackass, but to live your life in such a manner? my god dude, i'd call that hell.

candycorn missed the point that the "queen" has a leadership position and a day after a filthy Muslim with African heritage slaughtered dozens of young White girls is not a time to celebrate.

The OP is apparently upset that the Queen is going though with a garden party...I was asking him/her how long they should wait. The OP brought it up.

ok - if i stepped into the middle of something - apologies.

that to me is a tough call either way. mourn, or carry on and not let them disrupt you. i lean to #2.

gonna have to agree with him in that if you say this is *NOT* the time - that's fine. i can honestly see both sides, but if you call the timeline into question, i would agree - how long do you wait?

i don't know a thing about what went into the planning of the event or how difficult it would be to postpone or move so i can't say if we can or should. if it can be backed up a day or two, i can see pushing it to the weekend. but i can also see the validity of keeping on a normal lifestyle being important too.

Shoot terrorists in the head as soon as they are discovered, citizen or not. Stop placing them on watch lists.

Makes me wonder why every known/suspected ISIS stronghold, safehouse, outhouse, penthouse, warehouse, doghouse, whorehouse, and hen house doesn't have a Tomahawk heading right for it right now?

Trump said nobody is going to mess with us.

Well, they're messing with us.

I find it weirdly coincidental that the day after Trump signs an arms deal with King Salman,

a guy named Salman makes this terrorist attack.

If we blame all Muslims, does that justify internment camps, banning mosques, incarceration without charges or trial, etc., for any and all Muslims?

I guess this isn't the same Morrissey who made good money off writing songs romanticizing death at a young age...

"take me out tonight...if a double decker bus kills the both of us...to die by your side, what a beautiful way to die..."

Truth is he's big Nigel Farage fan now so his sentiments are unsurprising.

The only thing that should be canceled are the muslims. Sorry to say it, but the people in England allow this to continue. They even elected a pos Muslim as mayor of London who will not even condemn the butchers who did this.

It could come to that, yes, because people will ride it out only so long in the interest of fairness, then they will either take aggressive action against the source, or surrender.

I'd opt for the former, myself.
