Yes, anything can happen, like amending the amendment or something else but, you are correct, there is time maybe to assess the efficacy or urgency of such a proposition.

It should be noted that no modern politician can be compared to FDR. FDR cancelled the 1st Amendment freedom of speech during WW2 and took over the media and the history books.
