Seems it would be more logical cost wise to appoint a dozen or more immigration judges to handle the backlog of asylum requests at the southern border than to spend billions on a wall. Some sort of work visa program for those just looking for work and more immigration judges to handle those wanting to flee horrible situations and come here permanently. If asylum requests meet guidelines they get temporary visas, if not they are denied..simple. Seems that would decrease the number of attempts at illegal crossings significantly. Another thing would be to do something to help improve conditions in their home countries. Something along the lines of the old Marshall Plan.

Another thing would be to end all welfare (up to and including gubmint schools), and open the country to any and al comers who want to work and pay their own way.

It is difficult to resolve at times as for which is more inclined to facilitate slums and poverty , the religion of secular humanism or the religion of theistic deontology .

The ostensible anarchists for libertarianism may objectively analyze correlations between global population and carrying capacity , or between global populations and poverty , or between global populations and environmental impact , however any analysis supporting correlations and deleterious consequences would be subjectively dismissed as irrelevant to the sphere of concern for themselves .

The napping libertarian does not have qualms with over population , as they fully intend to kill and eat anyone in their way for survival , wealth accumulation , independence and privacy .

The demand for employment in us economy does not justify an annual arrival of 1.4 million permanent legal migrants in a merit less based , first come first served , immigration system from countries already over represented among the global population and lacking adequate skill sets .

Between the libertarians , who do not want borders to tap into inexpensive labor , and the secular humanists , who do not want borders to save everyone , both act with self myopic interests irrespective of consequences to standards of living for most americans .
