Molnupiravir: First pill to treat Covid gets approval in UK

Molnupiravir may be mutagenic in mammalian cells.

Aug 2021 Molnupiravir

As the 1973 Russian report by Andreeva, Poslovina, Salganic and Vasjunina stated, ‘the majority of mutants were proline- and arginine-deficient auxotrophs.’

Isnt the important thing that it is saving lives ? The pfizer product is reportedly even better.
one doesn't give a sweet sh*t about the other here, or over the pond tom
It hasn't gone through legitimate trials for covid
Actually ,that IS the point C4all

foe ex, somebody presents a canned study of 750 'test pos' people, where the placebo resulted in 14, and the 'study dope' resulted on 7 hospitalizations ........

do you know how many variables there are to that?

they then present these smoke & mirror stats as a 50% save rate.......and the idiot gub'mit (in this case the UK) buys it hook, line &fish&chips

and here i thought our FDA were pushovers......
:icon_rolleyes:

Merck’s pill may be mutagenic. Pfizer’s pill has three fluorine atoms attached to a nitrile warhead. Badger would choose PF-07321332 by Pfizer.

Paxlovid ???

Wuhan bat lady Zheng-li Shi’s friend and co-author, Baric, says molnupiravir is mutagenic in this Chapel Hill, North Carolina report:

What this means is that it will give you cancer. Also women in general shouldn't really take this either... especially pregnant women. It will have serious side effects...EVERY TIME...

It's a very dangerous drug used to save your life...when all else fails. Kicking the can down the road for a bit in exchange for something else later to kill you.

so it's 1954 all over again???

Basically yes, for those who don't get vaccinated...

At this point ALL drugs and supplies for treating Coronavirus are at low levels. (Supply chain interruptions)
There aren't that many monoclonal antibodies running around... you have to have two comorbidities to get them now.

Then we have to wait for these drugs to get through the supply chain (which isn't exactly the greatest at the moment)

All supplies are running short to make drugs. India is where many are made.

However what you are talking about was a manufacturing error...tested the same and appeared to be the same but wasn't the same as thalidomide.

Yay, isnt science amazing ? 50% cut in the mortality rate is something to celebrate.

This is the magic pill that will save all of those idiot anti vaxxers.

You're not allowed to take it Tommy. You must rely on those magic vaccines you browbeat all of us to take, they were so magic, they were gonna save us all.

You get covid, too bad, so sad. Isn't that what you told all of us? Sit in your house and cry about it. Save the pills for those of us smart enough not to take the clot shots and the million and four boosters they require---you like your own medicine, doled out? Yes or no

The point sparky brought up is a good one...
With supply chain interruptions and labor issues...and the possible side effects (This one has some doozies) isn't exactly the best fall back plan.

Crazy as ever Sue. I must confess that I have no idea what you are ranting about.

thx

we do have a history John

look up what the pharmacabal did to expectant women in the 50's......

Well...I agree that "stuff happens" and it's going to keep happening...

It looks like a blending of two drugs is going to be a S.O.C. when this all shakes out.

Paxlovid is Pfizer's new oral drug. But it has a different manner of working.

Both of these drugs are going to have some harsh side effects for possibly years out but... together they can be the cure we have been looking for.
Both have shown great results.

There have been over 2,800 controlled clinical trials of various treatments since the start of this pandemic...most are in control groups of under 100 people and poorly staffed or supported. So there has been no reporting of these studies. Research nurse staffing has, in many instances, had 300-400% staff turnover. (The replacements are not in good moods either) Doctors also have had increased turnover. So patient recruitment has greatly suffered as a result. Many studies are just abandoned.

As a result only the large platform drugs are being successfully tested because they are the ones with money and manpower. But the NIH has extensively tested invermectin and Hydrochloriquine and quit mid trial for ineffectual reasons.

They quit for good when Icahn Med School showed that ivermectin physically attaches to SARS-CoV-2.

Here is a breakdown of the interaction of the three fluorine atoms with the nitrile warhead that the virus is not smart enough to do anything about:

PF-07321332 Dynamics of Inactivation of a SARS-CoV-2 Enzyme
’....
After the tri-fluoro acetamide moiety of the compound establishes contact with the side chain of Gln189, the cyclopropyl-proline moiety occupies the central portion of the binding site establishing a series of coordinated hydrogen bonds with the backbone of His164 and Glu166, orienting the cyclopropyl group towards the hydrophobic S2 pocket. Meanwhile, the pyrrolidone moiety is inserted in the S1 pocket, interacting with key residues of the oxyanion loop....This interaction is conservved across all possible substrate peptide crystal structures. Subsequently, the pyrrolidone moiety rearrangement also allows the reactive nitrile group to face the catalytic Cys145, making it possible to reach the final covalent bond state which cannot be described through molecular mechanics.

In the final conformation, the tri-fluoro acetamide moiety is fully inserted in the S4 subpocket, establishing two additional hydrogen bonds with the backbone of Thr190 and Glu166.’

Invermectin is a beach ball sized molecule by comparison to the virus. The two antivirals are small molecule... meaning they penetrate the virus and destroy it.

yep we have had treatments out since before the vaccine…

anyway…this one seems very effective, and created by a US company…yet surprisely not approved by the xiden admin yet…wonder why?

Size does not matter when considering physical attachment, as if the virus pretends not to notice this attachment.
