Modern politics summed up with a little humor and the dangers for democracy

Constitutionalists Should Move to a Country Whose Citizens They Respect

What American people are you dissing? Your strawmen don't represent the kind of people who built this country. Your elitist heroes, whom you oppose to your strawmen, have only obstructed the American Way.

It was a "mob" who settled the frontier, not the paper-shuffling Founding Fodder.

It was a "mob" who built our industries, not the self-appointed owners.

It was a "mob" who died on the beaches of Normandy, not the upper-class Generals.
.

You know nothing about my Heroes ... And nothing you posted will make anyone a more informed voter.

If you just want to suggest that we don't need leaders, generals or anyone with a purpose other than desire or to live through the next minute ...
Then we at least agree on what could be the definition of a mob ... :auiqs.jpg:

The People's Pocket Veto

Apathy is silent proof that they reject the Constitution, which gives away the citizens' power to untrustworthy politicians. You're not changing both sides of the equation: if they control the laws, that should motivate them to vote in referendums. Representative government represents only a bipartisan oligarchic clique.

Apathy is a massive problem, people don't want to have to think about how to fix their society properly. But FPTP makes things worse because it changes the focus of the political parties away from what they should be doing, and more on how they can cheat.

From Parasites to Paralegals

There's no point in trying to fix a system that is terminal and has been sick all its life. National referendums on all important issues is the only path to freedom. The legislators would be little more than law clerks, drawing up the laws for the people to vote on.

Well, I understand the difference between political systems.

FPTP (what the US has) leads to the larger parties getting a lot more seats, lots of negative voting.

PR (what Germany and Denmark (among others)) leads to people being able to have a real say, for political parties who don't listen to be dumped rather quickly, forcing political parties to listen, to try and understand. It's also much harder to cheat, as both Dems and Reps do.

Different Species of Vultures

European pseudo-democracy is still representative government, which in any form takes away the self-determination of the citizens. As far as pressure to avoid incompetence, that works no better than the pressure sports fans put on the team owners.

Representative choices are incapable of handling the absolute power they are given. So when a political party screws up. all we can do under this anti-democratic Constitution is replace it with another collection of entitled screwballs.

Well, are you suggesting that the people won't "screw up"?

Look at Brexit in the UK. Is it a screw up or not? 52% to 48% and the whole country changes.
