Missouri GOP Votes To Make Rape Victims Carry Pregancies To Term: "Bad Things Happen"

Missouri state Senate Republicans took time away from their filibustering of one another to vote down two Democratic-led amendments to the state’s draconian abortion laws that would have allowed exceptions for rape and incest on Wednesday. In 2022, the Republican-led Missouri legislature passed strict laws banning abortion. The only exceptions at this point are to save the pregnant person's life or protect the pregnant person’s physical health.

Greg Razer wondered how his GOP counterparts in the state Senate rationalized their laws, pointing out that their position is the refusal to show compassion to a 9-year-old girl who is raped and forced to give birth: “What they’re arguing is intellectually indefensible. It makes no sense. And it’s morally indefensible.”

Republican Sen. Mike Moon took time away from defending child marriage to spend “12 minutes listing well-known people conceived through rape or incest after suggesting authorities shoot or castrate rapists.” And fellow Republican Sen. Sandy Crawford offered up this grotesque view of spirituality: “God is perfect. God does not make mistakes. And for some reason he allows that to happen. Bad things happen.”

Yep. Abortion will be on top of the ballot in November, and the campaign hasn't even got started yet. It's just February, and all of the distractions will be long gone after another long hot summer of anti abortion fanactics, and news from around the country of girls suffering horrible outcomes thanks to the inbred freaks of life that are in that article.
Guess what? If it is the law, it is the law. We hear that all the time. Deal with it.

Abortion is now a state issue. It's not a factor in the Presidential campaign.

Frigid Fetus Fetish

These are the same Christofascists who burned Joan of Arc at the stake. Different victims, same gloating self-glorifying superstition. They are bitter, sexually repressed cold fish who jealously make laws for people with a normal sexuality. Women scare them and they get a thrill out of punishing women.

And they want us to use "mother" instead of "pregnant person." That way they can enjoy their fake moral superiority by imagining Mommy throwing her baby into the fire and heroically stopping her.

So much for indivual freedom. The gop is turning into the fucking taliban and wants to micromanage everyones life. It is disgusting and they must all be voted out. How dare they tell victims of rape and incest to carry the fucking baby.

Your freedom ends where someone elses rights begin. That baby has a right to life. It's an innocent victim. The rape victim has had a chance to live some of their life, the baby hasn't.

It sucks, but I'm pro life. Period. Rape is awful and being forced to bring a baby to term that was a rape baby must be terrible. But that baby did nothing wrong, why should it be given the death penalty?

What do you Lefties not understand about homicide?

If the representatives of the People (in the legislature) decide that a child-in-utero is a PERSON, entitled to that most basic of CIVIL RIGHTS - the right to LIFE - then taking that life is HOMICIDE, right? Is that too complicated for ya?

And the right to LIFE is not mitigated by the origin of that life. Would you execute bastards? If a life originates in a rape, should it be extinguished? If s/he originates with incest, what difference does that make? Is s/he less entitled to LIVE than any other child?

Probably not worth mentioning, but making an exception for rape is extremely problematic. What is to prevent any woman from saying, "I was raped"? Nothing. "It was a stranger, and I have never seen him before or since." Riiiiiiiiiiiight.
