Democratic Socialists are different from Socialist Democrats IMHO. I think they both pretty much want the same outcomes but try to achieve in different ways. They both favor democracy (in theory), but the Democratic Socialists want government control over the economy with no free enterprise (capitalism), while the Socialist Democrats want capitalism to some degree to co-exist with gov't intervention. The Scandinavian countries are Socialist Democracies that have successfully blended capitalism and gov't control, but at a high level of broad-based taxation. They tax everybody, not just the rich.

Not sure there are any real examples of a Democratic Socialist country that enjoys economic success. It's hard to foster economic growth without some degree of capitalism, and I'm not sure such countries are all that democratic either. Nor do I believe they have an egalitarian society that promotes equality and unbiased justice. To the extent you limit free enterprise and allow gov't intervention, you limit prosperity.

How would it work for you if, say for instance, you had to negotiate individual contracts for emergency medical, police and fire services- rather than have the government withhold some of you money to provide those services. ? Ya think that it would be more efficient and cost effective?

What about services that ensure the safety of food and other consumer products? We could do away with that too and save you some of your own money. You could save a bundle until you found yourself in the ER with food poisoning - and then have to pay out of pocket for treatment because- insurance is socialism too.

What about infrastructure -roads , bridges and such. You might find it hard to get to your job that is with holding those taxes and then you woudn't have any money- and no unempLoyment benefits either-because THAT IS SOCIALISM
