The first few seconds of the video associated with the above linked article show law enforcement officers armed with suppressed M4 or HK 416 carbines. Firearm suppressors or silencers as they like to call them in Hollywood movies serve two primary tactical purposes: lowering the decibel or sound level of gunshots and suppressing firearm muzzle flash so the bad guys can't see you shooting at them at night. Why would the military want quieter gunshots? Quieter or more clandestine kills, that's why. Same goes for flash suppression at night: more covert weapon discharge. Covert small unit operations on US soil you say? Yes, watch the video.
So let us ask the obvious question then: why do domestic law enforcement agencies at any government level require military issue weapon suppressors in response to a daylight school shooting on American soil? Outside of hostage rescue operations where hostage lives depend on more covert tactics I am drawing a blank. Assassinating American citizens on US soil, criminal or otherwise, has never been legal purview, paradigm or SOP of any law enforcement agency. So why are there fucking suppressors on the cops' rifles in this video about a school shooting in Texas? What has domestic law enforcement become? An army deployed to occupy our neighborhoods, streets and towns?
Some respondents to this thread will likely argue police tactical units need suppressors for "special" purposes or circumstances. I'm not buying it. Others might speak to protecting our fearless law enforcement officers' tender ears. Nope. Imagine what must go through the mind of your average citizen when they see cops armed like military special operations units running toward an elementary school or around their neighborhoods; spoiler: it ain't good thoughts.
You'd think the cops in Uvalde were about to confront Lex fucking Luthor.
Law enforcement has been locked for years in a heated arms race with . . . the American people.
It needs to stop.
The militarization of our law enforcement agencies is fucking out of control.
