Dear America, Why Are We Voting Against Our Own Self Interests?

I don't get it. Most people loath the super rich, and yet they sit around glued to FOX and vote to keep giving them tax breaks and favors. All the while, the buy the same old line of "they are the ones creating jobs" from the GOP. Guess what....THEY ARE SITTING ON THEIR TRILLIANS NOT CREATING JOBS.

My self interest is conserving and protecting my individual freedoms, so a candidate from the Tea Party would be my choice.

That's good, Si Modo. My self interest is limiting big government and seeing the wealthy bring jobs to our citizens. I feel the conservative choice will eliminate regulations that are stifling growth in the USA and bring back companies to the US.

I can depend on the Tea Party to keep their word and deny the support to spending money we do not have.

Look at your sig line Jim.

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." ---Thomas Jefferson

When the majority wants something for nothing, should they be able to just vote in the people who will give it to them, and force the producers, the "rich" to pay for it.

Is that fair?

Hell no!

Another great American President said "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

What I can do for my country is force the government to reduce spending...then, if necessary, we can raise taxes.

But reduce the spending first...no promises of cut 10 years from now, but raise taxes now.

Cut spending...reduce the size and scope of government...do it now...then we'll look at increasing revenues.

Some wealthy spend losts of money convincing these people that there is a loss of freedom by asking the wealthy to pay taxes or run their businesses without distorying the places we live.

Some people are just more prone to propaganda.

The wealthy who are willing to make the little guy suffer to gain yet more wealth and power have lots and lots of money to spend on convincing the weak of mind that they need to defend the wealthy.

Many of these weak of mind have family tradition all tied up in their politics.

They see themselves as born republicans.

To go against the flow of family trandition woud mean their family would abandone them.

I have witnessed this first hand.

Some of it in my own family.

Perhaps the left should explain why they think individual liberty is selfish?
Perhaps it would be best if everybody were more specific in their responses. What exactly in the Tea Party or Republican Party is in the Middle Class interest and what is not. Terms like "Brainwashed" or "Explaining why individual liberty is selfish" is not specific enough to render any significant meaning. Maybe both the left and the right on this forum could provide specific policies and examples rather than just blathering platitudes?

How's this for blathering platitudes: The candidate who shows more of an intent not only to follow the Constitution, but to restore us to following the Constitution, will get my vote.

Kinda saying the same thing that I did before, but that seems to be a blathering platitude. Funny, I thought I was using plain English.

You have to be lied to to be brainwashed- Fox, Rush, Savage, Rev. Moon, Breitbart, Heritage- loudmouth Un-American misinformation and rabble rousing...

Not a single example of any sham voting, pub troll- The ACORN SCANDAL was a total Faux/pub hoax. Like the Mosque, the Tides Foundation, the birth thing, the Kenya thing, the Muslim thing, the gov't takeover, giveaway to insurers, huge cost, lose your doctor, and death panel things. Pub Dupes!!! LOL!!! The Obama Recession, stimulus didn't work, and Marxist things...ad infinitum and ad nauseum....how dumb CAN they get....

They're awfully proud to not be voting like blacks, browns, Jews etc too.....

JimH::

I know this is hard for you to accept -- and several folks have already tried to tell you.. But we VOTE not because the GOVT is gonna us stuff or pummel some other class -- WE VOTE because we are preserving the Republic. And the Republic depends on keeping the GOVT from the power to BUY VOTES. Thus the simplified soundbite of "smaller govt"..

I don't like corporate/Govt collusion anymore than you do -- for example.. But UNLIKE YOU --- I've reasoned out the CAUSE for that collusion to be USURPED GOVT POWER to hand out money and favors. YOU -- ignore that and blame biz and corporations for sucking up to the SOURCE of the power. Clear diff eh? Same ends. You folks are just plain wrong about the solution... GE doesn't pay taxes UNTIL THE GOVT STOPS GIVING THEM TAX BREAKS!!!! It's really that simple..

Go ahead -- tickle yourself with the comforting thoughts that all of us opposing the Progressive/Socialist Revolution are brain-numbed FoxBots and fools.. It's what 1 out of 5 leftists threads is about on these boards. We get a real chuckle out of how shallow that thinking really is...

Si Modo - I think the point was for you to explain what "individual freedoms" need protecting. Also, if they need protecting, who then is attacking them? Those are the specifics that would help this conversation.

Same goes for The T - Why do you believe the Left thinks individual liberty is selfish?

Would NEVER expect a leftist to understand that "INDIVIDUAL liberty" means regardless of race, sex, class, or religion. Because to them -- they NEED those distinctions to determine EVERYTHING that you are eligible to recieve..

Probably had a picture of Ronald Reagan on the front and a budget cut to NPR on the first page of the bill..

I think you're missing an object in there.
(I, anyone, One,) Would NEVER expect a leftist to understand that "INDIVIDUAL liberty" means (liberty) regardless of race, sex, class, or religion. Because to them -- they NEED those distinctions to determine EVERYTHING that you are eligible to recieve..
Better? Perhaps if you hadn't chopped the sentence further -- You'd get it quicker. The important bit is that LIBERTY isn't quantified for a Leftist until you've filled out the form and checked all of the personal information.. THEN -- your entitlements are added up...

Ah, there you go. Of course, it doesn't answer the question, but it at least makes more grammatical sense now.

Thanks :)
