The Democrats have two basic constituencies - the affluent whites who can buy their way out of the consequences of leftist policies, and poor welfare recipients who can be bought for their votes.

The backbone of this country - the working and middle class - are now seen as the enemy by Democrats. That is why they are intent on destroying small businesses (and criticizing the positive traits it takes to build one), increasing inflation, and raising taxes. Personally I think they want to tax a lot of people out of what they own.

The point is that middle class earners have such low tax liability compared to $400k earners is that there is hardly any unpaid worth the time and money spent going after it. Let’s say my salary is $55,000, and after subtracting mortgage interest and property tax, my taxable is $45,000. It’s so simple that any unpaid tax is due to a math error. IRS people already check for that. So what are they going to do? See if the middle class person got paid $200 for shoveling walks and owes another $20?

This is all about fear and control.

Either way, the reason the IRS has been going after poorer people the last few decades is because it requires more resources to go after rich people. This is a direct result of the effort to defund the IRS as a payoff to rich Republican donors.
