Michigan School Shooting, 3 dead.

  • Several hours before the shooting: A teacher noticed and photographed an alarming note on the teenager’s desk that included a drawing of a semi-automatic handgun, a bullet, a bleeding figure with two gunshot wounds, and several quotes including “The world is dead.” A school counselor escorted him to the school office with the drawing, which had since been altered to scratch out the violent scene and some of the words including, “My life is useless.” The school summoned the Crumbleys.
  • Three hours before the shooting: The parents arrived for a meeting where they declined to take their son home with them and failed to ask him where the gun was.
The main problem in this whole situation was the parents. They enabled this tragedy to unfold.

Your inability to read surfaces yet again:

Look at the source of your link. Think it may be a little biased?

Also you obviously failed to not notice something from our previous discussion.

"Michigan has no laws requiring gun owners to secure weapons when children are in the home."

So, is that a good source or a bad source.

I don't know how this, "They declined to take their son home" came about. In every school district where I taught or was an administrator, the parents had no options if the child was suspended, which he most certainly should have been.

They knew their son was a nutjob and bought him a gun for Christmas!

"Four days before 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley allegedly opened fire at his Michigan high school, his parents bought him an unusually early Christmas gift: a 9mm Sig Sauer handgun.

The teen accompanied his father, James Crumbley, to buy the gun at Acme Shooting Goods in the small town of Oxford. Ethan referred it to that night on Instagram as his “new beauty.”
Actually not.

In families where shooting is an avocation, there’s nothing ‘unusual’ about buying an older teen a gun for Christmas, having that teen present when the gun is purchased, and referring to that new gun in a positive manner.

This is no indication that the boy is a ‘nutjob.’

Good question,
I did, in grade school back in the 50s. I was from a Catholic family but the majority in our town were Protestants so the Protestant our Father prayer was recited. I said my own ending to The prayer. I have no idea what the Jewish kids did.

Like I said this type of crap didn't happen, even with rifles in students cars at school. After they took prayer out our education system started producing graduates that can't even read, but they know it's okay to be gay!
How old are you? I am betting you never prayed in school as part of an organized prayer.

I am 61 and I attended all of my schooling after the Supreme Court banned prayers in public schools in 1962, less than two years after I was born.

His own words tell a different story this kid had serious problems and the parents knew about it.

The did not flee. They were intending to turn themselves in despite turning off their cell phones and hiding in the basement of an industrial building in Detroit.

I agree that the manslaughter charges are a stretch, but in this case I'm all for a felony conviction. These parents are worse than trash.
The problem is the failure of lawmakers and the courts to have in place appropriate laws that specifically address guns in homes with minor children.

Absent such laws, prosecutors are forced to contrive charges that are both inappropriate and unwarranted.

At this point we dont know the timeline of what the parents knew or didnt know about their son. we do know the school, with trained professional educators, on staff child psychologists and likely a psychiatrist and security did not think the kid was an immediate or deqdly threat, since they did not isolate him, secure him, searched his lockers or belongings..........and they did not bring in the police that day or
before the meeting with the parents.....

So if all those highly trained professionals were not concerned, what were the parents supposed to think?

I’m convinced that some on the left are elated by this tragedy

It gives an excuse to bash gun owners and push their gun confiscation agenda

The denizens on the extremes of both right and left wings are the greatest threats to the United States.
This fails as a false comparison fallacy.

Left and right are in no manner ‘the same’ – ‘extreme’ or otherwise.

Indeed, there is no ‘far right’; what’s perceived as ‘far right’ is in fact mainstream conservativism.

And the folks on the right say the exact same thing about the left. You all are so alike you even use the same wording and tactics.

You were trying to trim the fat. There’s plenty of fat in our military spending.
Another orange thrown into our apple discussion

Military spending is federal

Education is local

Why do libs insist on federalizing EVERYTHING they touch?

Golfing Gator says:

“Don’t blame me for nuthin’ because I told you to vote for my dope smoking loser candidate instead of the guy who won”

He and other tweeners like Mac1958 will alway insist that their 1% solution is the best
