They do call us Americanos...if they want to call us Mexicanos-Americanos, have at in...but that's going to get pretty confusing pretty quickly.

Mexico means “the navel of the moon” in the ancient Aztec language, Nahuatl. In Nahuatl, Mexico is pronounced “Meshico”.

Therefore the descendants of the Aztec, Spanish and Hispanics aka Mexicanos - took on the ORIGINAL name Mexico and not the colonial or the European discoverers term America/Americas nor Mesoamerica.
