But you are correct, there would have been a pilot on the bridge, and he has ultimate control while they are maneuvering in the harbor and approaches.

But how did the ship get on the landward side of the bridge in the first place?

Seems that it was never on that side...

Looks like the wakes are from the tugboat perhaps racing to get by the ship and stop it from going north with the current.

Lost powers is bullshit. You can see the disturbance wake from the prop. They were drunk out of their fucking minds, all up in the sails and cheering and blasting La Musica . My sources tell me pictures iof them passing bottles back and forth from the masts are bring censored
