Meta fires staff for ‘using free meal vouchers to buy household goods’

This seems very harsh.$20 is a generous allowance for lunch but if you arent hungry why not use it to buy toothpaste ?

I suspect that times are going to get tough at facebook. Maybe the good days are over ?

If they knew the rules, it is a stupid decision to make for a few dollars.

I had a per diem when I was on travel back in the day. I wouldnt think of billing another item to the company

It is not harsh, these people were making more than 100k and they were stealing money.

You guys would be harsh employers.

I know right, how dare people follow the rules.

When I was doing a stint as a WalMart manager we found evidence someone was eating Lunchables without paying for them. So we spent time watching the film and found it was on of our best workers. He was going through a hard time and didn't have the money for food. I had no choice but to fire him and it broke my heart to do so. He was not a bad person, just down on his luck and made bad choices. I did keep it out of his record and helped him get a new job, that was the best I could do.

How does the Brit based Guardian find this stuff? They never interview anyone concerned to see if the account is true or attempt to get a fair and balanced view from both sides. It seems like a constant attempt to criticize the Colonies. Isn't there any news in the U.K. worth printing?
