Mentally ill EPA workers coming to work in tears

Imagine having to work at a place where you have to abandon your integrity to conform to some pseudoscientific theories you know hurts us in the long term
They been doing that for the last 8 years

At EPA headquarters, the mood remains dark. A longtime career communications employee said in a phone interview Tuesday that more than a few friends were “coming to work in tears” each morning as they grappled with balancing the practical need to keep their jobs with their concerns for the issues they work on."

Imagine having to work at a place where you have to abandon your integrity to conform to some pseudoscientific theories you know hurts us in the long term

If that were an issue, most of government would quit.
It is a question of ....do you abandon your values just to earn a paycheck?

Imagine studying for years to get an advanced degree, working for decades to protect the environment and then having some simpleton who is looking out for the oil companies tell you to shut your mouth and declare the earth to be flat

And it's also a question of....do you spend 35 years in government producing no value....and then collecting a pension for doing so.

What values ? If you want to protect the environment, there are lots of ways to do it outside of government...and, in fact, the government really does not give a rat's ass about the environment....they care about building fiefdoms and they will use the environment to do so.
Those who work for EPA create incredible value. I saw the air and water pollution in the 60s and 70s.......they save millions of lives

No they don't.

......they save millions of lives
:lmao:

Yes millions

Remove EPA regulations in place for the last 50 years. See the impact of massive concentrations of lead (remember leaded gas?), mercury, pesticides and hundreds of other toxic substances that used to be just dumped into our air and rivers and you are talking millions of lives

Fuck them. Imagine yourself having to go through this.....

Wyoming Rancher Sticks It To The Feds...Wins Big Time Against Obama And The EPA

ROTFLMAO.

There was clearly a pollution issue during that time.

Did it take the EPA to accomplish this...probably not. Some states had or were developing environmental regulations.

Federal regulations cost us our steel industry (didn't save any lives there).

Also, it would be hysterical to see how you can justify your silly comment about saving millions of lives...in general.

Speculative reports are meaningless, so you can spare us that bull.

So what do you do?
Declare victory and abolish the EPA?

We heard the same whining from conservatives in the 60s when EPA tried to eliminate lead and mercury leaking into the environment

Think of all the jobs that will be lost
We can't afford it
A little bit of lead or mercury won't hurt anyone

In the what ? The 60's ?

How long ago was that ?

Abolish the federal EPA....you bet.

States keep their own.

Who is Washington D.C. to tell the state of Nebraska what is better for them ?
The EPA is still protecting us

I trust the EPA to look out for my safety and wellbeing over some capitalist

What a load of crap.

The federal EPA is costing us. It is why we have no steel industry. Or are we willing to buy steel from places that pollute like hell and feel good about it ? What a crock of crap.

States have agencies in place. They do a better job than the federal EPA and are more in tune with their constituents.

The EPA lets oil wells flare with no mitigation. You can litterly barf if the wind is blowing wrong......states can't touch them.

EPA is looking out for us
States suck...they always have

Politicians in states looking to lure away jobs from their neighbors will relax environmental standards to make a quick buck

If a state wants stricter standards than the EPA (like California) they are welcome to do it

The EPA looks out for itself.

It has grown in importance in it's own eyes.

States are better than the fed by a long shot.

It's the fed that sucks and always has.

If a state want's less stricter standards, that is their business.....not yours.

Why call yourself Rightwinger when you are really FarLeftWinger (big government nanny state lover) ?

I also don't trust states selling out the environment to make a quick buck

"Come to Jesusland and we will look the other way...wink...wink"

You live in one state.

You take care of that state.

Who are you to tell others living their states what to do.

You don't trust.......you must work for the federal government.

What goes into the air drifts into other states
Toxic waste flows into rivers, which flow into bigger rivers which flow between states

I trust the EPA more than I trust sleazy state politicians

States can sue each other if they like.

Anything between states can be settled in court. Always has been.

State politicians are sleazy (even though they are closer to their constituents). But federal regulators are....???? Good hearted.

They get paid more than those in industry and collect big fat pensions.

I am starting to see why you feel the way you do.

Aw, that's just so sad.

Maybe they can get jobs with the border patrol after they get fired.

"On Tuesday, the new administration’s efforts to take hold of the EPA continued, this time with a memo from EPA headquarters requiring all regional offices to submit a list of “all external meetings or presentations by employees planned through February 17.” The memo demanded the offices provide a short description of each event and a note explaining “whether it is controversial and why.”…

I think they're probably freaking out because they're afraid that not only will they be unemployed..they may be prosecuted.

Or, again, maybe they're just nuts.

"Supervisors were said to be telling distraught employees to take sick leave and go home, something explicitly not allowed by the rules governing sick leave:

"U.S. EPA employees were in tears. Worried Energy Department staffers were offered counseling. Some federal employees were so depressed, they took time off. Others might retire early.

"And some employees are in downright panic mode in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s victory.

“People are upset. Some people took the day off because they were depressed,” said John O’Grady, president of American Federation of Government Employees Council 238, a union that represents thousands of EPA employees. After Election Day, “people were crying,” added O’Grady, who works in EPA’s Region 5 office in Chicago. “They were recommending that people take sick leave and go home.”

Which is of course grounds to fire the bosses. You don't get to arbitrarily gift assholes with sick leave because they're freaking out at work.

And WHY are they freaking out?

Because they're being told to own up to the politicking they've been doing on the taxpayer dime, and they are being scrutinized to see WHAT THE FUCK they're doing.

And they know that what they're doing is illegal.

Rarely are they ever right.

They never make any sense.

The EPA sucks.

The EPA is awful.

It's now wonder they can only hire mentally unstable individuals.

Who wants to work for an organization that needlessly spends tax dollars on meaningless efforts that could more easily be handled by those who live and work closer to those they affect ? Answer: those who can't work anywhere else.

The Environmental Protection Agency must be abolished because it is destroying the rights of Americans, it’s another monumental waste of money and America doesn’t need it. Like the unconstitutional federal Department of Education which employs almost 4,500 people and will suck up a colossal $63.3 billion dollars for 2005, the EPA with its 18,000 employees, will gobble up $7.76 billion dollars this year.

The states have sold out their people for hundreds of years

If not for the Federal Govt keeping them in check....they would be open sewers

Poor EPA, can't terrorize land owners anymore.
They are shitting themselves because they're afraid they're going to be doing time for the shit they have done that they know is unethical and criminal.

Horsecrap.

The states are more the people than the Federal Government.

If it were not for the Federal Government getting involved, this country would be a much better place to live.

The EPA is just another jobs program.

And people are crying because they might have to go find real employment.
