Well, we kind of are. Hegseth wants an army of white men that look like him.

With the recruiting problems the military already has, maybe not a brilliant idea.

He wants people in shape and rules of obedience that joining the military demands. Loosening that then added to loosening more. And then more. It should stop at some point. And we passed it.

I feel that they should feed soldiers goodly amounts of food, so that they will have the energy to fight wars. But they shouldn't make the food taste good, because like you said, it turns the soldiers into fat lil piggies.

I had mess halls, I was responsible for at various units, as an XO, Food Service Officer (an additional duty), then as a Company Commander. If my mess team did not serve food, that tasted good, I would have counseled the Mess Sergeant, re-evaluated the number of school trained personnel compared to non-school trained, made adjustments insisting on best food for the troops (definitely including tasting good) within the 30 Master Menu, and getting his shit together or getting swapped out for somebody that would. Good food, that actually tastes good for troops, working hard away from home is a comfort, they deserve when possible, as there are plenty of times, when it is not, as anybody have to sustain on C-Rat, K-Rats or even T-Rats can attest to.

I was in the Navy some 50 years ago. We had plenty of fat lifers who couldn’t even do a FOD walk down without getting winded.
