May started as an ancient pagan/spring festival. In the late 1800's the AFL made May 1st a day of strikes for an 8 hour workday. Today, Marxists have promoted May 1st as a day of protest and, as you said, they are running out of things to protest. I think not unlike the SPLC they are making their own bogymen.
