Mavericks give up on Luka Doncic, traded to Lakers for Anthony Davis.

What if either of them don't pass their physicals? It sounds like Doncic and AD were blindsided by the trade, so this hasn't been done yet and would be pending the physicals.

I have to wonder if it was something personal. Chemistry is sometimes one of the last things that gets talked about.

What is a matter of play? Doncic could be a better defender. Did the Mavs get tired of him not stepping up? Did Doncic think he could focus so much on offense and partially ignore defense?

Davis is 32 this spring. Hardly a guy who is out the door, but I observe 32 can be a peak for many players.

I still have to think there is something personal with the Mavs.

the Adelsons want the franchise to sink so they can get their gambling/bb center in Dallas
or
The Adlelsons after the Mav's collapse will move the team to Las Vegas where the money is and they can have their combination basketball arena and gambling center.
The adelsons could care less about basketball. they know nothing about basketball
The money is in gambling and the Austin legislature won't allow gambling which the adlelsons are lobby heavy heavy heavy for

The Mavs could have got WAYYYYYY more if they had announced he was on the market and shipped him around.

This trade makes no sense, it’s shocking
Get ready for the Las Vegas Mavericks. That is what this is all about
Adelsons don't know bb. This about gambling

I guess Doncic waddling around the court at 260 pounds this year was the last straw. I didn't realize he had gotten that fat.
Yea, just imagine if LeBron gets through to him, the amount of money he spends yearly to remain in peak physical condition is hard to argue against, judging by the way he plays.

Offensively it will be a dream for the Lakers, I just wonder what sort of defensive liability Luka will be.

what, no mention of an arrogant jacka** of an owner?
I have a take on the situation it might not be right but I think it might be... Viewership is down considerably around the league, the Lakers are a marquee franchise they can build big time around Luka as he appeals not just In The states but in international circles as well and Lebron is reaching the end of his career.
It is a win win for the league Dallas probably didn’t want to pay Luka the max which would have been something like 70 million a season and LA doesn’t have too because Luka will have to settle for far less going to another team... Maybe the owners wanted to make him an example to the other players and bring salaries down at the same time.... it is a really interesting situation which also brings added excitement and publicity as well...

alot of people think LA is coddled by the league for the reasons you mention, there's always suspicions, especially when they go directly to LA without hearing any other offers.

he'll fit in nicely, the whole team plays no defense especially more so with AD gone.

I like the sixers pick up of Grimes, but over paying KJ Martin last year, for future trade match strategy- only to give him and 2 2nds away for nothing, is just poor management.

I think the Lakers are gelling quite nicely with Luka. His acquisition surely increases their chances of winning a championship.

Unfortunately, the Mav's have experienced some setbacks recently, and with Irving's torn ACL, their season is in the shitter, through no fault of their own.

10-2 since he's arrived. Kyrie, and possibly Davis, done for the season.

That's why the Lakers have multiple championships and the Mavericks only have one.

I think Luka has elevated LeBron, and not the other way around. Been a long time since LeBron played with someone like Luka, probably going back to Cleveland and Kyrie, and they won a title.

The trade helped the Lakers and the Sixers (who got Grimes and their 2025 2nd round pick back) Dallas ended up making more than 1 blunder on this, than people realize.

Funny you mention Grimes, the guy had recently gone off for the Sixers, over 30 one night against GS and two games later 44 against Utah so I bet him to go over against the Celtics the other night and of course he did nothing all game.

Yeah noticed, but most players even Maxey will have a 4th or 5th off day, even glass knees would have the occassional low scoring night and PG has had them way too frequently=PG's inconsistency is why they had a bad season. Which brings us too putting together a roster that's got consistent effort and stability in the stat line. Guys getting 20 pts are great, but not if they hog the ball and take too many bad shots. So in forming the team with terrible defense and high volume shooter hogs and inconsistency does not make for a winning formula.
