without having a massive political bias
Hahahahaha.
Gee, all we have are all his statements to the contrary to refute your claim.
He is completely bias.
Even his acting apt should be illegal, because he hasn't been a DOJ employee for min 90 days.
Bias isn't really an issue. Holder was biased.... he worked on Obama's campaign. He was however a former judge, who'd served in the DOJ for around 20 years, including chief of civil rights enforcement.
Whittaker's a failed senate candidate (a politician) with little govt experience, and his SOLE qualification is fealty to his Don.
And that's going to be an issue. Unless AG is pretty much a terminal career move, a guy has to come out with some character intact. Holder is just fine back in his DC law practice representing banks, and he'd been chief of civil rights in the DOJ previously. Lynch has a nice pension after years at DOJ, but I think she's retired. Alberto Gonzalez had trouble finding a new gig, but he'd been a Tex AG and SC justice. Ed Meese was always more a Reagan advisor than lawyer, but he stepped in for a dead guy. Griffin Bell was a lion.
I can agree with that. Everyone has bias. I should have been more specific. Whittakers' obvious bias about the Mueller investigation means he should have to recuse himself.
Well, there's an underlying misdirection by the WH. Sessions was AG. Comey was FBI. Trump fired Comey to "put an end" to the Russia thing, that the FBI was investigating.
Sessions it turned out had his own "misstatements about his involvement in "the Russia thing." the AG can tell the FBI to stop an inveistgation, but sessions was tarnished. Rosenstein appointed Mueller to investigate "the Russia thing" independently of the FBI or DOJ.
And you are right that Whittaker has already at least given the appearance that he thinks Mueller is dawdling, and he explicity said Mueller should not look at Trump's fiancés, .... including what Russia has loaned to him for ... questionable collateral.
So, we'd hope he couldn't be confirmed on that, because it Trump is owned by Putin ... that's sort of relevant. LOL
but Whittaker has not worked for the DOJ long enough to be "acting director," and he's simply not qualified to be AG even if the "Russia thing" is ignored
