Precipitous decline in math and reading scores attributed to the effects of pandemic reactions. All that "remote learning" crap was a disaster whose consequences will be felt for decades.

"In math, the average score for 9-year-old students fell 7 percentage points between 2020 and 2022, according to the study. The average reading score fell 5 points.

The pandemic's upheaval especially hurt students of color. Math scores dropped by 5 percentage points for white students, compared with 13 points for Black students and 8 points for Hispanic students. The divide between Black and white students widened by 8 percentage points during the pandemic.

Decreases were more uniform in reading: Scores dropped 6 points for white, Black and Hispanic students.

For Asian American students, Native American students and students of two or more races, there was little change in reading or math between 2020 and 2022, the study found. "

Hilarious that no one will blame what group of people made this happen

LMAOROFL!!!!

The scamdemic had NOTHING to do with! They were fucking morons before that! The Dems, Libs, and "Karens" out there all started whining and complaining and shitting their diapers back in the late 80's, and thats when public schools went to hell......and just keep on getting worse and worse.

That's not what was said. All of the problems currently in the media headlines ARE due to failed socialist (Progressive Democratic Party) programs.

It's time to get back to Representational Democracy and Free Market Capitalism. I'm sorry, but we were far better off before the government took control of every frickin' thing in our lives: they only take, they never produce.

In order to do that, it will require every patriot to become well educated. Your local party needs your help to make sure the "Representational Democracy" part of the equation is working. True power belongs only in the hands of the many people, not given up to the hands of the few at the top of the social hierarchy the way that these Progressive Democrats want you to believe.

- Anyone can achieve the greatest heights despite their family and upbringing (unlike anywhere else in the world at the time)
- All well-intentioned people are welcomed (as proof of our hospitable legal immgration policy)
- You are judged by the content of your character not the color of your skin.

Democrats disagree with all of these... Their views are
- Anyone who is woman, trans, gay, islamic, mexican, etc. are oppressed
- We'll let anyone in, even if they harm the people or country
- You are judged by the color of your skin as far as your ideology, and if you're black and disagree with us, you're an Uncle Tom.

That sums it up.

All you educators be sure to point your fingers at everyone else now, ya hear?
Get your ultra lazy person in the classroom. Show the nation your expertise.

Then why did the change happen when it did?

Back during the Stone Age, when I was in school, a student's grade level was often articulated numerically, by grade. For illustration, a student might be evaluated as "8.3," meaning that s/he was performing at a level equivalent to an 8th grader in the third month of the academic year. So ideally, an incoming HS Freshperson was performing in reading and math at 9.0.

Is this still done?

And my question, as pertains to the OP, is, are these results saying that the students' progress actually went backward, or are they saying that they are RELATIVELY worse off than they were before the Pandemic?

Seattle teachers settled with the district after a week-long strike, reports Mike Antonucci. The district is adding staff while losing students. Compared to 2013-14, there are 1,725 fewer students and 1,711 more employees.

How do they even justify this?

This is a problem, but not only in America, the figure has declined all over the world, even in Japan, Korea or even China.

Materialism has become so magnified that all else is eclipsed. Anything even vaguely intellectual is considered a waste of time. Thought and reflection are lost arts. Money, possessions and social influence are dominating obsessions.
The backlash to this will doubtlessly be an equally anti-intellectual "spiritual renewal", with superficial religiosity demanding puritanical excesses.
