Short answer is, Yes .
If you decide to identify with a group , or are identified by birth etc with it , you need to publicly identify with your fixed or elected status and take and hold a position of personal responsibility .
You cannot eat a meal and then afterwards refuse to pay for it because you think it was badly cooked or not worth the price .

And if you do not like the way the system works , you must openly disassociate yourself from that group.
To try and do otherwise is to selfishly pick what you believe the good is and ignore the bad /wrong / mistaken
