Maryland enacts landmark police overhaul, first state to repeal police bill of rights (msn.com)
“Maryland is leading the nation in transforming our broken policing system,” said House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones (D-Baltimore County), who sponsored the repeal of the officers’ bill of rights and is the first Black person to hold her leadership role. “I am proud to lead the House in overriding the governor’s veto and showing the nation exactly where we stand as a state.”
Move over Chicago and NY City, Baltimore and other black cities in Maryland will be leading the nation in black deaths...You can count on it....

But the Democrats are okay with that, since it is only occurring in these blue state cities. They must be really proud of themselves to have that status.

"Hey! We have the highest crime rate, we should break out the champagne!"

And in Maryland some of the cities there are sanctuary cities. Where do you think all those drug dealers and illegal criminals will go now that the police cant do shit?

The thing is, the Democrats want these cities to stay this way. If these cities were anything more, it would go against what they stand for - FREE stuff! Once these city officials see this, it means they can give these folks a handout. These cities and states are enablers. They have always been. Because, they know when they "try to help out", these poor folks will commend them and possibly vote for them during elections. These poor folks rely on the government to help them out. Because, they are either lazy to get themselves a decent job, or they refuse to help themselves to a better life and independent. Not relying on the government. The Democrats hates anyone who are independent, and doing good things for themselves.

Maybe the crims will draw and quarter her for fun.

Florida is openly advertising for police.
They are looking for retired military to fill in part time for some police, because of the influx of new citizens coming from NY and Cal. Have to keep an eye on the progs so they dont get out of hand like they do in their old states...

Ok. Why is it wrong for Police to have the same rights as everyone else? Why is it wrong to get rid of special rights for cops?

So people who risk their lives should get special rights? The more dangerous the job, the more special they should be when suspected of a crime?
Removing police rights have nothing to do with being suspected of a crime. They are removed period. This guarantees that future police will be those who already have nothing to lose. I.e. criminals

The police officer now has exactly the same rights as any other person. Exactly the same.

Let’s compare what was and what is.

Today the police officer is well within his rights to ask for a lawyer during questioning. He has that right.

What was. It was prohibited. Illegal to ask a cop any questions regarding a suspected crime without an attorney present.

The officer could not waive the right to an attorney.

He can refuse to answer questions. He can stop answering at any time. The same as everyone else.

Today. Misconduct examined as an administrative issue may also be investigated as a criminal issue.

It was not like that. If an administrative investigation turned up criminal misconduct the cop couldn’t be charged.

Decisions based upon that administrative investigation could be overturned by an arbitrator. So you find a thug in uniform. You fire him. He appeals and an auditor says you can’t fire him. He is reinstated with back pay.

So you can’t even fire bad cops.

Not in Maryland. But an example of what I am talking about.

They didn’t discover the misconduct for a year. When they did they fired the cop. But now he’s back at work because they took too long to fire him.

So this thug is back in uniform. And back in a position to brutalize people and trigger the next round of riots. Yay LEOBR!

So again. Why is it wrong to treat cops exactly the same way everyone else is when a crime is being investigated?

Any cop that is required to offer himself up as a racial and community sacrifice should quit and work someplace offering safety. Just like anyone else. Florida is openly advertising.

Look down the forum. This folder. Jacksonville Deputy. That is Florida. Sentenced to 12 and a half years. They convicted him of not only misconduct. But every charge they could think of. Hardly the supportive of police atmosphere you seem to believe it is.

Why didn’t they simply charge him with abuse of office as is usual? He would be out of prison if he ever went in a year. The Judge ignore the cops long service and bypassed the minimum of eight years.

Is that a atmosphere of support and appreciation? A cop makes a mistake. A little overzealous and is sentenced to more than a decade in solitary confinement? He has to be kept in solitary. He can’t be put in General Pop. Imagine that for your cop. More than ten years. Even with good behavior credit. More than a decade alone in a cell. Knowing if you aren’t alone you will die.

How long before he becomes suicidal? How long before a mistake let’s him die at the hands of the real criminals?

Tell me again about the support Florida shows it’s cops.

Yes. Indeed. Florida turns the other way as demand rises for police transparency

Cool. That way the statewide police force will not have to traipse all over the state to find the thugs wearing badges.

FDLE. You might have heard of them.
