Greene, a Republican from Georgia, took office on Jan. 3, 2021, and will have served for five years and three days by the time she exits — three days longer than the minimum time served to be eligible for a congressional pension.

So, she'll continue to receive 80% of her current pay, Health insurance, and a 401K for the congresspeople called a "Thrift Savings Plan" that matches twice the amount a working American gets "whether she contributes, or not"....

This is outrageous! This woman is timing this to grift the American taxpayer for the rest of her life....Disgusting.

80% is extremely generous, especially considering the financial opportunities typically open to former Congressfolk.

Military people get half after twenty years. I believe that is half of base pay, so it would not include half of jump pay, or other bonuses, and would not include half of allowance for quarters and food that military people get when they live off-post. I'm not retired, so if any of that is incorrect, please let me know.

As a teacher, I will get 2.2 percent of pay for every year that I taught, and would not be eligible until my age and years of service combined are at least 80. That actually happened at the end of last school year, but I cannot retire on less than half pay.

Congress generous compensation, getting paid during the shutdown, etc. are all very annoying, but there are larger problems with our nation's finances than that.

That's a generic ballot. The Republican favorability ratings are, at least 10 points higher than the democrats.

No big deal as these are, in no way, predictors of anything.

People may not like congress in general....but they tend to like their congressman. So....see you in November.

I did not establish 5 year retirement plans for congressional office holders. I am drawing two pensions, but neither based on a 5-year vestment. I have never even heard of a 5-year vested pension, no matter how small.

2 pensions? Awesome for you. My wife draws her pension plus social security each month. She alone pulls in 4800 per month. Not bad for a retiree of 20 years plus.

I think anyone who gets multi millions in such a short tenure should be investigated, regardless of party.

Or ... it could be that she's become so popular with her conservative base in the region that folks go out of their way to give her their business as opposed to a less desirable company. We live (for the time being) in a free market society where a person can make money if and when they offer a quality product or service. Congrats to MTG for growing her business and building a nest egg that she can pass down to her kids and grandkids.
