My first time through college, in the 1980s, majoring in computer science, I did nearly all of my coursework on a VAX. It was a fine computer platform, in its day, but I don't think any rational person would ever try to credit it with saving millions of lives. I think that it would take an incompetent British government agent that ought to have been sacked, but has instead been relegated to degrading bureaucrapic duties, to make such a claim.
