Manchin is delusional if he thinks that a bipartisan deal can be made.

What is most likely to happen is that the republicans will be allowed to water it down so that the bill is mostly ineffective then all of them will vote no on the final vote for the bill. Then will go back home to tell their constituents about the great legislation they voted for to create jobs. Even though they voted no on the bill. Just as they have been doing with the covid-19 bill.

We saw it over and over again in the Obama years. The republicans will continue it during the Biden years.

mcconnell has already come out to say his only job is to stop the Biden agenda so any possibility of bipartisan is impossible and anyone who thinks otherwise is totally delusional.

The only question is, will Manchin vote with the democrats for their original $2.2T Bill, or will he hold firm for a number closer to $1T?
I still think he should switch to the GOP. WV is NOT a democrat state, and he knows it.

This is exactly what the libs have been yearning for. He's a modern day mccain.....................,reaching across the aisle. Surely, the lib news will pick up on this and heap glorious accounts on manchin for being so brave.

Joe Manchin needs to cross over and become a Republican.

You need to look at his history more closely, he's far more Democrat. There is no indication he'd cross over

Ben Nighthorse Campbell did. West Virginia is Trumpland.

Manchin is supposed to be representing his voters.
They put their faith in him, and he's betraying their trust when he votes with the democrats.

Yes, it is. But we are discussing Manchin and his background is that he's a left wing socialist. Have you ever looked at his voting record?

Why would the GOP want to compromise on any bill that would end up benefiting the opposition party?

Rhetorical question

That's the only beneficiary of printing up another $2 trillion.

That the GOP even consideres this pork-a-thon just lends more evidence to show that they're nothing more than controlled opposition.

More spending would benefit democrats in the short run, but runaway inflation and a crashing economy when the Fed raises rates would bite the dems on the ass eventually. Tax & spend never works for democrats any more than when the GOP cuts taxes without cutting spending.

As a Democrat, I appreciate Joe Manchin

He represents West Virginia. If he is defeated, we will not get a more liberal Democrat, we will get a Republican. We need to be thankful for a Democrat from West Virginia, even if he doesn’t support every Democratic measure

He is like a Susan Collins or Lisa Murkowski.....they vote enough with their side to keep them around

So you don’t want bipartisanship on this bill, you don’t want the Democrats or Republicans to compromis, you want it all. Thanks for letting us know.

The thing is....Bipartisanship is a pipe dream

Democrats can concede to every Republican demand and Republicans will still not vote for it.

It is a lesson Obama learned again and again and again

That's the point.

It doesn't do that.

It benefits everyone.

I don't have anything against Joe Manchin.

I just think he's delusional if he thinks that the republicans will ever work with democrats for bipartisan legislation.

It's not going to happen.

Yes and they are continuing with that now.

We already saw it with the covid bill.

The republicans forced changes to the bill which weakened it then voted against the bill.

They did it all of the Obama years.

They are doing it now.

My questions are:

When will democrats wake up and grow a spine?

Why are bipartisan bills important only when democrats are in control? When the republicans are in control they don't give a damn about bipartisanship. They ram their agenda through congress without any care for bipartisanship.

Manchin is delusional if he thinks that a bipartisan deal can be made.

Good man that Joe Manchin, just about the only good thing democrats have going for them. The GOP have reached out with an alternative offer, now watch as Biden and the sick democrats REJECT bipartisanship once again insisting it be all 100% THEIR WAY or no way as always.

Republicans used reconciliation to ram through their tax cuts without any concessions to Democrats.

Democrats refuse to do the same to repeal them.

I agree the dems need to do a reconcillation tax bill, but they put that off till 22. And they need reconcilliation this year to pass ANYTHING on their progressive agenda. They will not get 50 votes for their American Family Plan unless its pared down.

I think Caputo can get ten votes for close to a trillion in traditional infrastrcture. The gop is not voting to raise taxes. It's a compromise. And the only inflationary danger is longer range since the actual spending won't start right away and is spread out over 8 years.

The dems can raise taxes on the rich in the spring of 22.
